I made this Market Bag in class at Sew L.A. with some fabric that Tony's mom had given me. It folds up into its little pocket and is easy to carry around.
A bag that came back for repair after being used to the edge of destruction.
1) It was originally made with elastic bads on the front corners to mate to the rack I'd made with it, but the elastic had stretched to ridiculous lengths (and the xpac fabric had started to wear through) so I sewed a cordura baseplate (with Ruthworks-style minimalist velcro tiedowns) and patched that onto the bottom of the bag.
2) the bag started with a single lid tiedown on the tombstone loop, but repeated cycles of heavy loads ended up tearing the tombstone loop off (whoops!) so I replaced it with Swift-style corner hooks & an elastic cord long enough so it can be extended to cover oversized loads without tearing the corner hooks out.
3) ditto with the front hook; that one was overloaded and tore out, so I stitched in a piece of cordura to cover the hole that was left after the hook tore out, then riveted another hook through that /and/ a sizeable metal plate backstop.
In my small loom I made this little rug from recycled pieces of fabric. This created a small and unique bag. The handles are made from the same recycled fabrics, knitted together and holding each button on the bag.

Με τον μικρό μου αργαλειό έφτιαξα αυτήν την μικρή κουρελού από ανακυκλωμένα κομμάτια υφάσματος. Έτσι δημιουργήθηκε μια μικρή και μοναδική τσάντα. Τα χερούλια είναι φτιαγμένα από τα ίδια ανακυκλωμένα υφάσματα, πλεγμένα μεταξύ τους και πιασμένα από κουμπιά πάνω στην τσάντα.

One of the problems of walking with crutches is you can't carry a clutch bag as your hands are otherwise engaged. So I decided to make a formal drawstring evening bag that I could slip over my wrist.
It was very easy to make and as I had plenty of leftover fabric from previous evening dresses I made it out of that.
Coraline is a vision in soothing teals. One side features a mod teal, blue and green floral print while the other compliments it with a patchwork of different teal prints decorated on each side with a frayed edge flower. The flowers are multi-layered and each has a glass bead in the center. The edges are unfinished and will fray with use, giving the bag a bit of a shabby chic or bohemian feel. The flowers are sewn on each layer and gathered in order to cause them to stand up from the bag's surface. There is an inside pocket and the strap is adjustable as it ties closed and the knot can be moved slightly to make it longer or shorter.
Measures 12.5" across the base and is 10" high, not including straps.
Included with the bag is a matching zippered wristlet for stashing business cards or what have you. It measures 5.75" wide by 3.5" high. Lined in the same swirling green as the bag.
The bagged is named for the lead character in Neil Gaiman's Coraline (http://www.neilgaiman.com), which I am currently reading to my daughter to her delight and vast enjoyment.
Coraline is a Sube Sac modified from a tutorial I found on craftster.
The bag made from vintage embroidered napkins. I added a button and some running stitch embroidery on top and bottom for a complete look.
