Looking for something for the "pale" ones in your life? A teenager, perhaps? Teleute (the ancient Greek name for Death) will make any gothic-loving soul happy down to their toes. It features original art by local Las Vegas illustrator, Charles Holbert ( used with permission). You can see more of Charles's art at: www.kidnotorious.deviantart.com/. The character on the bag is Death from the very popular DC Vertigo comic The Sandman, by my favortie author Neil Gaiman. You can read up on the character en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_(DC_Comics).
Teleute measures about 8" across and is about 10.5" deep. The swirling purple print perfectly compliments the colors in the drawing. It is accented by swirling stitching in blue and purple rayon, charms, ribbon roses and beads. The wide, comfortable shoulder strap is made with a silver etched abstract swirl print.

Still have to finish the handles then place them inside the bag before sewing up.
A bag that takes a normal person 1 hour, would take me 3 weeks.
This tiny pouch is just the right size to hold a precious tooth and for the tooth fairy to leave a little surprise in return. Fits perfectly under any pillow!
This little bag was refashioned from a kids t-shirt and a top that I made last year. I used the bias tape totebag pattern from belle epoque to make the bag but I chose to nix the bias tape and add thicker straps.
Purple felted bag with googly eyes and a ginormous moustache! (Leaning on a red-wrapped package to prop him up for the photo.) He was hidden inside a baby food box. So cute!
Barbie Peek~A~Boo Petites Shoulder Bag Shella. She looks like Ashley Tisdale... well.. now that she's not blonde anymore maybe not. Ok, she looked like Ashley Tisdale when she was blonde. ^_^

I usually have a few long-term projects on the go (projects that end up taking me multiple years), so I wanted to make a 'quick' project. Someone gave me the striped navy blue fabric and I didn't know what to do with it. This winter I realized that it would make a great bag, and the blue would go so well with red, pink and orange. All but one these hexagon fabrics is Kaffe Fasset.
I handstitched the hexagons over the course of a month or two. For the bag I followed a tutorial called Simple Lined Tote by Felicity Quilts, on the 'OCD: Obsessive Crafting Disorder' blog. I changed the dimensions a bit (like making the straps longer). I will probably make a few other adjustments if I make another bag. The gussets at the bottom were new to me. Not sure I would do it that way again.
I hand appliqued the heart to the bag, then used red thread to essentially quilt each separate hexagon.
One of the best parts is that I only used my stash (including the thread) and scraps to make it.
