I made this with Peaches 'n' Cream kitchen crochet cotton. I'm going to make a whole bunch of them and keep them in my trunk so I don't have to use those plastic shopping bags anymore. It holds about as much as 3 or 4 of those plastic bags and fits comfortably over my shoulder. I gave this one to my mom after I finished a second one.
I'm thinking about trying to make one out of string made from cut up plastic bags and one out of hemp so it will be more rigid and sturdy even though this one holds a significant amount of weight without any problem I would feel more secure about putting heavier items, like soy milk and juice, in a bag that wasn't made out of such a soft material.
[pattern]
I'm also adapting the pattern to make a (much more complex) purse. It could be cool, we shall see. I ran out of yarn earlier today so it's on hold for a moment.
"Not using plastic bag" really IS the fashion trend/ a happening fashion statement now in Bangkok.
When i was in Bangkok last month, i didn't see anything like this happening, but boom, on this trip, everywhere I go, supermarket, even flea/weekend market on Silom the trend is being promoted massively. Very impressive with what has been done in 1 month !
BTW, my Thai colleague looks very cute with the bag :-)
Taken at Friday market in back door alley along Silom road. "Most farang tourists" don't know this place.
I made this bag for myself with all the things I like best - great fabrics, lots of pockets, enough space, soft to touch and some embellishments...

I'm on the third day of my detox diet. So far it's been tolerable but not all that satisfying. Then I got the brilliant idea to make spaghetti. The challenge is finding sauce without added sugar. After reading many labels, I finally scored some spaghetti sauce. I also picked up a bag of rice and bean chips (gluten and wheat free). They were so good that I looked over at Chris and said "I think I'm going to live and now that I have these chips, I could possible do this diet for more then a week." But I'm not.
I just finished making my latest bag creation. I used some funky material designed by Marimekko, and some upcycled jeans. To see more pictures or read about details on how this bag came to be go to: www.gaijincreations.blogspot.com

Sylvain, the winner of the SSEC bag and a really nice guy sent me this picture of the bag in action. Thanks, Sylvain!
Split cylinder inserts brazed with Bag-7. A little heavy on the knifes but not bad. You know, I was thinking maybe using a higher melt silver and basically do the knifes and then do the inside with Bag -7 dismissed it as things were already complicated enough particularly assembling the things with flux in my beard, basically everywhere, so I said forget it, plus the power went out a couple of times for a few seconds each, Thunderstorm, but ain’t Tig welding so who cares, it was operator overload a little.
Getting a bag of coal as a gift could be a lousy present to someone, but buying a bushel of this premium 73 pound load as Butch is carrying, could give you constant heat for days if you have the stove to burn it.
"This is red ash coal from Pottsville, Pennsylvania and is hard, "clean" coal anthracite. There's said to be 100 years of coal up there," he explained.

A bag I made for my friend Anna.
I had done an early version of this "design" about a year ago, and even though I didn't pay much attention to the details, Anna liked it very much. So I offered to make her one too out of the rest of the fabric, and this time gave the manufacturing some more love. ^^
It's pretty sturdy, with light blue lining, and you can attach your keys to the front. ^^
(the apple blossoms are from an old photo I took last spring)
