The Snail Shell Assassin figure recently released, and I got mine in a few days ago. Like Figma, Snail Shell has a very competent body that they tweak and provide for use in developing figures for the assortment of interesting character designs.
So I don't know the official names or anything, but this figure basically has two forms - some strange hybrid cybernetic animal form, and of course, the expected Waifu in skintight jumpsuit form.
It's an interesting design aesthetic, though for an assassin she seems awfully under armed, featuring a knife and a Grapnel Gun. The sheath for the knife and the harness for the Grapnel Gun plug directly into her lower spine. The interesting thing is that the hands are only meant to hold the knife - the Grapnel Gun is directly deployed from her harness... or that's what I think, as there's no real instructons.
Grapnel Gun comes with a coiled wire as well as three different tips, one for use when the tip has not been fired, and two actual projectiles to use with the wire.
Assassin is a return to average height for one of their figures, as Milk T Girl was just really short, though to be fair she was also really cheap to buy.
The cyborg mode head features multiple joints for articulation in the neck, covered with a fabric piece to hid the joints. There's also a joint at the base of the head, so overall this giraffe necked sculpt is actually very articulated. Compared to the normal head, which features effectively no neck articulation and limited head tilt, this feels somewhat like a step back.
Articulation has generally not been an issue with Snail Shell figures, and this is no different. mainly lacking a waist and butterfly shoulder joints. I've never removed the legs of any of the other figures (but this one I have to in order to swap out the groin pieces, and I notied the the hip design actually features some robust designs to allow for increased range of let motion without relying on a pull down hip design. The tail is actually articulated, tough the connection looks so fragile I'm afraid to actually manipulate the piece too much.
As always, use of the base will increase your posing options, and the base has cavities for you to store you spare pieces.
The two face plates are functional, and I can only presume they look like the source art. I can say, however, they're solid in terms of looking anime in nature, though again I wonder if this is simply because art direction insisted. There seems to be more rouge around the eyes on the finished product compared to the prototypes, and this shows up on the photos.
Otherwise, Paint and Build wise, pretty much on par with other Snail Shell items. in case you weren't aware, that is basically Storm Collectibles level of quality that should be coming out from these sets. Some questionable design choices as i've outlined above, but overall the figure certainly holds together than product from other companies.
I love the English hedgerows with their natural tangle of trees and other plants. In this case I thought I spotted a leaping creature amidst the tangled chaos.
"Ancient hedgerows, which tend to be those which support the greatest diversity of plants and animals, may be defined as those which were in existence before the Enclosure Acts, passed mainly between 1720 and 1840 in Britain and from the mid seventeenth century in Ireland. Species-rich hedgerows may be taken as those which contain 5 or more native woody species on average in a 30 metre length, or 4 or more in northern England, upland Wales and Scotland. Hedges which contain fewer woody species but a rich basal flora of herbaceous plants should also be included but practical criteria for identifying them have yet to be agreed. Many of the thin straight hawthorn hedges which characterise later parliamentary enclosures, as well as most hedges which consist mainly of beech, privet or yew or non-native trees, are excluded. Recently planted species-rich hedges are included.
It is recognised that hedges are important not just for biodiversity, but also for farming, landscape, cultural and archaeological reasons.
Hedgerows are important habitats in their own right. They are a primary habitat for at least 47 extant species of conservation concern in the UK, including 13 globally threatened or rapidly declining ones, more than for most other key habitats. They are especially important for butterflies and moths, farmland birds, bats and dormice. Indeed, hedgerows are the most significant wildlife habitat over large stretches of lowland UK and are essential refuge for a great many woodland and farmland plants and animals. Over 600 plant species (including some endemic species such as a whitebeam Sorbus devoniensis), 1500 insects, 65 birds and 20 mammals have been recorded at some time living or feeding in hedgerows.
Hedgerows may also act as wildlife corridors for many species, including reptiles and amphibians, allowing dispersal and movement between other habitats, although this is difficult to prove conclusively.
Elsewhere in Europe, ancient hedged landscapes are found only in parts of France (i.e. bocage), northern Italy, the Austrian Alps, Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
In 1993 it was estimated that about 329,000 km of hedgerow remained in England and 49,000 km in Wales. In 1990, a similar estimate for Scotland was 33,000 km. Between 1986 and 1991 it was estimated that there were about 125,000 km of hedgerows in Northern Ireland. Thus the current UK total, assuming a continued overall net rate of loss due to removal and neglect of about 5% pa in all four countries, may be estimated to be about 450,000 km.
The proportion of this which is ancient and/or species-rich can only be guessed at. However, if we assume that most species-rich hedges are ancient, and vice versa, then some indication can be gained from an analysis, based on 1978 and 1990 data, which found that 26% of all hedges in Britain were blackthorn dominant, 5% mixed hazel, 5% mixed hawthorn and 4% elm dominant. In addition, beech dominant hedges (2%) were found to have an especially rich hedge bottom plant assemblage. From this it may be surmised that some 42% of British hedges, or about 154,000 km, are ancient and/or species-rich. Such hedges are concentrated in southern England , especially in the south-west, and in southern Wales, and are relatively scarce in Scotland. In Northern Ireland, where species-rich hedges are concentrated in Fermanagh, a sample survey in 1990/1 estimated that about 33% of hedges are species-rich, giving a length of about 41,000 km. Thus the total UK resource of ancient and/or species-rich hedges is in the order of 190,000 km.
Hedgerows adjacent to roads, green lanes, tracks and wooded ground tend to be particularly species-rich.

West Midlands Travel Coventry fleet numbers and totals - from a fleetlist given to me by the company itself in about 1988. 191 vehicles were based with the depot at this time with an average age of 6.8 years.
Wheatley St had received a batch of Park Royal bodied Fleetlines from Liverpool Street/Birmingham Central garage (in the form of 6582-91 and 6635-37) in 1986 - but it seems within 12-18 months they were drifting back west again. 6583 & 6586 had already gone. I'm pretty-sure 6636 was the last to go. 76 Fleetlines were still in service though!!
Those crude annotations - I am trying to work out what they meant and they're my additions?! - something to do with being repainted possibly. w = withdrawn, so I guess 6587 was the next Fleetline to leave and 2029 was written-off in July 1988. Looks like 2619 was received in exchange for Barclays Bank advert bus 2629. In fact 2619 returned to Dudley but came back here again upon DY's closure in 1993!
Not shown here, probably because it occurred in about 1990, was 2611 was exchanged for 2610 with Yardley Wood garage. Curiously 2610 arrived carrying a Cannon Park Renault dealer all-over advert - but I still don't know why the swap took place?

The Paparazzi Bots is a series of five autonomous robots each standing at the height of the average human. Comprised of multiple microprocessors, cameras, sensors, code and robotic actuators on a custom-built rolling platform, they move at the speed of a walking human, avoiding walls and obstacles while using sensors to move toward humans. They seek one thing, which is to capture photos of people and to make these images available to the press and the world wide web as a statement of culture's obsession with the “celebrity image” and especially our own images. The flash autonomously goes off, capturing people’s photos and elevating them to “celebrity” in a kind of momentary anointing by the robots. The robots also become celebrities through their association to the “famous people” at the exhibition that are captured by the Paparazzi Bots.
Each autonomous robot can make the decision to take the photos of particular people, while ignoring other humans in the exhibition, based on things such as, whether or not the viewers are smiling or the shape of their smile. When the robots identify a person or group they will automatically adjust their focus and use a series of bright flashes to record that moment.
Surveillance technologies straddle a delicate balance that we have in contemporary culture, where we are all photographed without our knowledge by cell phones, hidden cameras and sometimes “celebritized”. This is a kind of modern baptism with the camera flash and the spectacle of being the focus of the camera becoming a kind of techno anointing.
This work explores ideas surrounding the shifting territories of self and machine and how machines can manipulate the other (us) in a grand co-evolutionary dance of emerging robot-human relations.
The recent emergence of social networks and their ability to connect people through software prompts via the world wide web is a prime example of the co-evolution of humans and their intelligent machines. The fact that the software prompts exploit our social needs for connectivity and social space is so easily exploited in this new critical juncture in our emerging machine human relations.
This camera can track your head and be set to take a photo if you smile mildly, medium-smile or pull-a-muscle smile. When set to smile mode, they do seem to prefer even smiles rather than crooked smiles so here the machine is making determinations about issues of "beauty". I have considered holding a robot beauty contest as an addition to this work.

My average picture of a male peacock. None of my pictures show the tail fanned out. As soon as I get out of the car and begin walking in the direction of peacocks the peacock communication system begins working at high speed to inform all the birds of my arrival and stresses the importance of never, ever, allowing me to see or photograph an open tail display. Consequently as soon as I arrive on scene each of the birds adopts this posture for the duration of my stay. As soon as I leave they all happily re-display for any other person near them. This has been Standard Operating Procedure for peacocks for the past 60 years and is unlikely to change during my lifetime.

Have you been quoted more to move your belongings than a friend or ex-neighbour was? There are numerous factors that influence the cost of house removals UK wide. This, of course, includes the distance between your current premises and the property you are moving too. However, there are other factors that may have caused your quote to be high.
You may have a high house removals cost because there are fragile or large items, which demand special equipment and methods for removal. Perhaps you need a piano or large ornament moved? Did you request additional services provided by the removal companies, for example, packing? The date and time when you choose to move can also have an impact, i.e. some companies charge more for weekends and bank holidays. Or maybe it is difficult to access your property? This could also increase the cost.
As you can see, there are a lot of factors that have an impact on the cost of house removals UK wide. If you make some tweaks, you may be able to reduce the amount you have to pay.
I went out looking for water to photograph today. I wanted to try "image averaging" to get the long exposure effect on water. I am tempted to buy a neutral density filter... but I live in a desert in a sparsely populated town. So how often am I going to be blurring water or people in bright sunlight?
In the end, I don't know how well the image averaging works for me. It was too windy for long exposures and then it started to rain. I'll try again soon... and wait until the light is right, too. :)
Here is a tutorial on the image averaging -
Kavalcare Solar System for Jhpiego Mid-Wife Clinic Dec8, 2014
Every year, 12,000 women in Pakistan die of birth complications. The Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Services Component, implemented by MCHIP/Jhpiego, aims at preventing maternal, newborn, and child deaths by ensuring skilled birth attendance (SBA) through a total market approach, empowered community, timely referral of obstetric and neonatal complications to an emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC) facility, and improved access to child care.
Lack of electricity in remote areas is a major issue that often leads to obstetric complications and newborn deaths. Refrigerated storage is vital for the effectiveness of life saving drugs and vaccines. Ice boxes are used in remot areas of this purpose but it is an ineffective method especially when easy availability of ice is a problem. To overcome these issues, Lodhie Foundation in association with Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program/JHPIEGO, extended its Kavalcare program and provided a Solar Powered System to a remote clinic located at village Haji Usman Jhakro near Makli, District Thatta. System provides sufficient power to operate a small refrigerator, a fan and 3 lamps 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It was designed, manufactured and installed by Shaan Technologies private Limited Karachi. After installation of Solar System in August 2014, this small remote clinic is serving a community of 10,000 plus persons who lives in village Haji Usman and surrounding areas. On an average 10 patients visits this clinic each day. Clinic also provides up to 15 birth attendance and new born care in a month.
Name of Village HAJI USMAN JAKHRO, MAKKLI, District Thatta

So, this is my cutting table. I chop things up and push what I haven't used to the back. And if I don't look up for, say, a month or so, well, this is what happens.
23 inches.
I'm sorting it today, honest.
Certainly the anaglyph that took me the longest... For an average result! It is one of J.Elliott's statuettes under a glass dome, which can be found separately or both on the same stereo. They appear on “One too Many” among others.

“Cerise sur le gâteau” if I found very similar statuettes, but never this one!
When it doesn't work, don't insist...
Certainement l’anaglyphe qui m'a pris le plus de temps... Pour un résultat moyen ! C’est une des statuettes d’ J.Elliott sous une coupole en verre, que l’on retrouve séparément ou les deux sur la même stéréo. Elles apparaissent sur « One too Many » en autre.

17 Mile Drive at Pebble Beach is such a romantic getaway that I 've gotta find a perfect car to take on this road. Entered the 2015 BMW 320i. I was able to secure a loaner vehicle and took a long trip all the way to Carmel and experienced this so-called "Ultimate Driving Machine". This model is the lowest end of the luxury sports series and is equipped with a 4 cylinder Twin Turbo engine that outputs 180hp and 200 lb of torque at 4500 rpm. I was surprised by the smoothness of its engine despite having only 4 cylinders, thanks to its 8-speed auto transmission. The ride was really nice with its 50-50 ratio of weight distribution on its chassis. It entered the freeway effortlessly in "sport" mode. Once I reached the cruising speed, I switched back to "comfort" mode for better fuel economy. Gas mileage was very good. I clocked at about 28 mpg on average. Overall, it has lived up to its reputation. The only thing I would complain is its tendency to oversteer at sharp corners. I 'm not sure if the all-wheel drive version fairs any better. But having driven an Audi Quattro for the past 14 years, I think I would not push the envelop of a rear wheel drive sports sedan unless I am really familiar with its performance. Nevertheless, the 320i is still a fun car to drive and is very easy to handle.
