Azo coated CD-R with silver alloy seperation

Did you know that the average term life of any polycarbonate Azo dyed based CD-R is rated with a lifetime of a decade. This particular CD-R however is showing signs of the silver alloy separating from the polycarbonate resulting in a star like pattern or pinch. Up until now I figured this was just something they used to scare you into re-burning your disks every 10 year. I have to note here that the CD-R was stored in a climate controlled environment of about 70 degrees and was never handled, simply burned and stored.
