The sun sets on an alien sky, complete with fake flare! I must add that the colours are nearly natural. I made the dark bit just a bit more purple but the rest was how I saw it.
That's why I pressed the shutter button! :-)

Camera mounted on 'Ultra-Pod', two sheets of white paper held up to fill in ambient light, self timer for 10 sec as the heavy camera/lens on the tiny plastic UltraPod wobbled quite a bit!
For the mystified: this is a type of user-built coil that goes inside the atomiser of a vaper ("e-cig").
Usually the coils are a single strand of resistance wire wrapped around (for example) a 3mm drill bit, removed then trimmed to fit between the terminal posts in the end of the atomiser. Resistances of the coils range from about 2 ohms down to 1.2 or less.
The lower the resistance, the more intense the 'hit'.
Users of vapers with a resistance lower than one ohm refer to the practice as "sub-ohming".
Vapour cloud and flavour production are much more intense at these lower resistances.
The 'Alien Clapton' coil wrap was invented by Instagram user "BlueEyedGoon", the core contains three strands of thicker resistance wire and the outer wrap is a stretched out coil of finer gauge resistance wire applied by hand feeding it onto the core wires via a hand-held drill.
These type of multi-core coils have a bigger surface area, so more fluid is wicked up and the flavour is more intense.
Cloud production is also bigger (which is fun).
Next alien flora top is done! This one is going to be a bit more difficult to construct the electronics, so I will need to figure that out before I can baste and quilt it.

Members of some unknown alien race, tall and bipedal creatures. They are thought to be descendants of frog-like amphibian animals, as their anatomy gives hints on that.
In case you are wondering how their heads are built, I should say that they are constructed of those UFO saucer parts.

Another solo visit to Skidbrooke Church for this 24 minute exposure. I'd had the idea rattling around in my head for a while. Two visits later, and I'm happy. Had to abort the first attempt due to failed flash trigger - turns out it doesn't like rechargeable batteries.
Skidbrooke, reportedly the most haunted place in Lincolnshire, is actually quite a relaxing place once you get used to it. Maybe a little creepy when you have no perception of anything around you while wearing an alien mask, but after that the noises and pitch black eeriness seem tame!

hurrhghgh I spent ages editing this, but alas, I'm still not very happy with it. Please someone take it and make it better for me :P
Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror classic ALIEN was first seen by audiences 40 years ago today (May 25th, 1979). Ironically, the world premiere of the movie was at the SIFF film festival in my adopted hometown of Seattle (a festival that I am also attending at the moment). So how could I not recreate this movie in LEGO!
Over the years there have been plenty of LEGO recreations of the various creatures, vehicles and sets from Alien franchise. But for this build I decided to focus on the genre-changing moment when Kane peers into the alien egg! From that point on, screen sci-fi would never be the same again...
