33/116 - alien
The first Alien movie may be the only movie I’ve seen in this long franchise, but it’s my favorite horror movie of all time. That being said, I was really excited to see that Alien: Covenant was returning to its roots as a horror movie first, rather than the sequel, Aliens. I also really enjoyed the Martian, so I seeing that Ridley Scott had returned to form, I checked out Alien: Covenant last night! So was Alien: Covenant as good as the first Alien that I love so much, or was it more like the rest of the franchise, which from what I’ve heard, are quite bad. Let’s check it out!!
Good: Now this movie was surprisingly intellectual. Now I heard that Prometheus explored some of these questions that the movie poses, but I haven’t seen Prometheus, so this movie really gave me the desire to watch it! I love learning about the origins of the Xenomorphs, it was so interesting! But with these great intellectual moments come some great suspense and scares. The xenomorphs in this movie were really awesome, the CGI really helped them be more active than when they are just a dude in a suit. Now let’s talk about the performances. Everyone in this movie was really good but the obvious stand out Michael Fassbender. You could really tell he was having a great time in his role and he really just chewed up his lines, making him both creepy and funny at times too.
Bad: Now I’m going to be honest, I should’ve seen Prometheus before seeing this movie. There was so much confusing stuff that I didn’t understand because they were all referencing Prometheus. I feel like I would enjoy this movie a lot more if I had seen Prometheus. My next complaint is that there were a lot of scenes in the movie where I felt like I’ve already seen them! Most of movie just felt like a rip off of Alien, like there were times where I called things would happen because I’ve seen Alien, and they would happen. I’m not talking about certain themes or motifs or anything, I’m talking about actual scenes. Because of that, most of this movie is very predictable, especially the ending, you can see it coming from a mile away. The last complaint I have is that the first act is a little slow until the alien shows up. I understand that Ridley Scott was trying to build up the characters in the first act, but I feel like they should’ve done some more interesting things.
Overall, this movie is the kind of movie that I’d only see once maybe, but it really inspired me to see Prometheus. It had some great suspense and scares, but with a rather messy and unoriginal basic plot. For these reasons, I’m giving Alien: Covenant a 7.5/10. I had a great time with this movie, but I don’t plan on seeing it again any time soon, instead, I want to go check out the other Alien movies! If you’ve seen Alien: Covenant, let me know what you thought about it in the comments below, and remember, no spoilers!

My son asked for a Halloween themed shoot in his astronaut costume. He liked the result.
Stock images have been used for the background and the alien (obviously).
Ant-mimicking Treehopper (Cyphonia clavata) From the side, this looks like an ant. From above, it looks like an alien.
This alien is very similar in design as the Worker Alien. The main difference is the orientation of the motorcycle chassis. By just turning it upside down you get a totally different look.
Not shown: arms and tails. These are basic droid arm connections.
Have a look at the notes for more information.
Here are three photos I shot back in 2008 when I was still using REAL PEOPLE as models. Our challenge is for members to shoot a series of no more than five photos with their action figures, that have the same theme.
The rules are:
1. The victim must be a pretty girl.
2. The villain must be a monster / space alien
3. The villain MAY be represented by just a shadow, as in my pics, but you may also use an action figure if a suitable one is available. (my alien was a large black plastic cut out, to camera right and out of the frame, casting only a shadow.)
4. The sequence of images should suggest a chase of some sort, ending in a cliffhanger moment.
5. The choice of clothing worn by the girl is up to you, however the more 50's retro it looks, the better.
6. The choice of background is all yours, but you must use a coloured, preferably green light source to create an sci-fi alien vibe.
Aside from that, it's all up to your creativity.
Ps: A verdade é que superei o medo dos E.T.s no momento que tatuei um crop circle no braço, mas a vida precisa de um drama para tirinhas bobas né.

I'd be interested to see what they remind you of.
© David K. Edwards. It pulls your head forward and briskly sucks out your eyeballs (it does something additional and cute if you are wearing glasses). Then it eats your face, devouring almost all of the skin and muscle. When finished, it emits a series of high-pitched burps that are somehow even more terrifying than its strident hunting call. In the photograph, note also the green puercoceptor organ, which curls when inactive.
It's been a while since I've put anything up here. It's not that I haven't been drawing, it's just that I never thought to put it up until now. So here's a digital landscape of some Q-tip alien ruins, with a couple of explorers on the approach. If only it were made of LEGO.
Okay, not an alien attack, actually an (outflow dominant, I'd say) supercell shortly after producing several tornadoes near Slapout, Oklahoma.

The Chibi FBTB contest inspired me to try out some other ships in this format. Since Aliens is the best movie ever made, I decided to start there.

Same as previous, slightly different image with a longer exposure and touched up in shop.
info: 2 guns. 430ex from front 1/2 with a softbox and another at 1/1 from above with a very long snoot. The one above was suspended with a fishing pole. Triggered with canon IR. If anyone wants to donate some pocket wizards, please feel free. The light line was created with canned smoke from behind the models head.
