I found this hideous alien out in the mars-like landscape of the Alabama Hills. It seems to be trying to communicate, or self-pleasure itself...

Was sorting through some old photos and came across this aurora corona shot from the epic display in March 2015.
Don't know how I didn't notice the spooky resemblance to a Little Green Man / Alien in the sky before. Probably just as well the shape of the aurora was rapidly changing on the night or spotting this overhead might have freaked me out.
The Plough is in the centre of the image, if you want a sense of scale - the aurora danced the night away and filled the sky over the north of Scotland that night :)
Have to say I like this alien's design, can't say the same for the movie it came from though.
Have X to thank for this really nifty mcfarlane dog alien figure.

Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror classic ALIEN was first seen by audiences 40 years ago today (May 25th, 1979). Ironically, the world premiere of the movie was at the SIFF film festival in my adopted hometown of Seattle (a festival that I am also attending at the moment). So how could I not recreate this movie in LEGO!
Over the years there have been plenty of LEGO recreations of the various creatures, vehicles and sets from Alien franchise. But for this build I decided to focus on the genre-changing moment when Kane peers into the alien egg! From that point on, screen sci-fi would never be the same again.

Macau (and by extension, Cotai) are like alien places to me, having last visited over fifteen years ago. Scads of highrises have appeared since, along with a plethora of casinos and shopping arcades, all of which seem to cater toward mainland nouveau-riche.
Was driving under the Kessock Bridge in Inverness when the sunset caught my eye. Had to jump out and catch it.
Fly x bee orchid, but once you've seen the alien teddy bear with the froggy grin it's hard to see anything else!

Anyone missed me? LOL
Well, I am still around, but lost my mojo a bit I guess. I haven't touched my camera since my trip to St. Augustine in early May and even went as far as using my remote's batteries in my kitchen scale. Priorities... apparently photography isn't it, at least not right now.
I took a trip up to Valley of Dreams and spent the night there. The sky was clear and the moon was sufficient to allow some illumination of the ground.
Since I was up all night, I better go take a nap now while I can still type. More later, maybe ...
Back to flowers and bees. :-) The center of this Clematis looks not so tasty...
Photo perhaps inspired by a rather fascinating book; "A Sting in the Tale" by Dave Goulson.

Well, actually a small baby vervet monkey (I believe), but its stare does seem a bit 'alien' to me...
This photo was taken in Tarangire National Park, Tanzania, Africa, using an M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro lens and MC-14 1.4x teleconverter (@210mm). And still I had to crop this heavily...
Still not entirely sure about the ultra-high-contrast black and white rendering, but the stare makes it worth posting, I guess.
See where this photo was taken (approximately; the GPS tracker ran a bit out of sync).

We ventured out this evening to Black Point in Narragansett RI. The group this time out was threshold, Skazama, Rizzolo, Rltm401 and Adrian. We returned to the place that was so beautiful over the summer to see it's beauty in the cold of the coming winter season. I want to get back here in the dead of winter, ice!
Same initial rock formation, saw these little markers on some of the boulders... they were here!
You can see a group pool here of all our shots on Flickr from the night or a slick slideshow here. It may take a week or so for all the shots to be posted.

Members of some unknown alien race, tall and bipedal creatures. They are thought to be descendants of frog-like amphibian animals, as their anatomy gives hints on that.
This one differs drastically from other amphibian brethren, as he is much smaller. I think he is to evolve into grown-up alien soon.
It was an easy hike to this place but a difficult drive to reach the trailhead. I almost gave up at one point just driving few feet on a jeep road as suggested by my pre-downloaded GPS track. But a ray of hope led to me this place via another turn. It was also a dirt track but much better than the previous one I attempted.
Still, daylight was there by the time I reached the trailhead and that made me super confident that I can finally see one of the most delicate and precious formations of Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah, The Alien Throne.
After an hour of a hike through a near-flat terrain, I reached the spot with so much of excitement. It was nothing less than what I imagined. I was stunned looking at nature's engineering skills and execution.
This time, I had the whole place to myself and enjoyed shooting till Sun went below the horizon. I felt as if I were wearing a Throne that whole time.
