No, they're not aliens or jellyfish. These creatures are actually hanging air plants in sea urchin shells arranged on a mobile. Very cool. Photographed at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden in the Gardener's Show House.

Developed using darktable 3.6.0

This MOC was intended for the preliminary round of the 2017 Bio-Cup contest here on Flickr, the prompt for which was to re-imagine a Lego set in Bionicle form. I've always thought some of the coolest System sets were from Mars Mission, and the Alien Infiltrator already has sort of a humanoid silhouette, so that was a natural choice for me. Unfortunately I was too busy to finish it in time for the contest, but I still definitely wanted to finish and post it at some point. Enjoy!

The white insect on the ready to bloom cone flower is too small for me to accurately ID. Probably, some type of aphid??

I finished some final touches on the stand and the Alien model itself for Japan Brickfest 2018!

Variation of a text-prompt generation in AI Deep Dream. The text contained the words MAX ERNST, ALIEN and GARDEN.

The option of Text Prompt is a new feature on Deep Dream.

while the first version was with a seed image, on the next I did not add a seed image to the prompt. But it appears as if AI remembered the color scheme from the first.

Shot this model a few months before the release for the Alien Covenant trailer. Kind of looked like it belonged in the last shower scene. Alien Covenant May 19th.

This was my introduction to the Alien movies. After I beat this game I went out and rented the movies and my childhood was thus changed.

Feeling a palpable heartbeat of the veld a spaceship suddenly appears on the horizon with alien silhouettes around the crash scene. :) Parks Board trying to encourage tourists to this sparsely populated semi-desert route.

Sutherland, known for its snow and stars is also well known as the coldest place in South Africa and home to the largest telescope in the Southern Hemisphere …. so much more to this mystical town

Shh we're getting the alien drunk. For the culture.

O.K., based on fuel tank piece again. This one was harder to use, as it is kind of small, but I like the charismatic colour. Simple MOC again, but was fun to make.

Is the front mudguard fine? It looks even worse without it... and no piece comes to mind that would fit, even this one is just held in with friction.

Reminds me of something from a science-fiction movie, viewing a planet rising in the sky from one of it's frozen moons.... If I just invert the colors to orange the illusion would be complete!

It's just after sunset, and the eclipse is nearing totality. The moon is rising East-Southeast of our location on a pass above the Aegerisee, not far from Morgarten. The bright band is the last of the moon's direct sunshine for the next 103 minutes as the earth's umbral shadow completely engulfs it.

Ash: Ripley, for God's sake, this is the first time that we've encountered a species like this. It has to go back. All sorts of tests have to be made.

Ripley: Ash, are you kidding? This thing bled acid. Who knows what it's gonna do when it's dead?

Ash: I think it's safe to assume it isn't a zombie.

Alien (1979)

Cloudinius by Marcel Dzama from the series "The Monsters of Winnipeg Folklore."

Aliens have invaded our sim and brought all kinds of strange creatures from mythology and past eras with them!

As it was snowing, we got really cold and wet while hiking. We could hardy wait to get to some warm place, as we found a nice little traditional restaurant, and in front of the restaurant: this one here!

Dumbass alien didn't realize just how cold our Maritime winter can get.

I had no idea that the little man last night was wearing a head torch. With his blue light he looks almost Alien like. A distraction maybe.....but a fun and fascinating one.

Taming Light #22

On a distant planet the strange creatures of light gather in awe to watch the first rising of the new red star.

For new viewers: These are light refraction patterns or 'caustics' formed by a light beam passing through a shaped and textured plastic form. Colour is added into the clear plastic which modifies the way the plastic hardens further enhancing the patterns. The pattern is captured directly on to 35mm film by removing the camera lens and putting the transparent object in its place. The processed film is digitally scanned for uploading. Please note these are not computer generated images but a true analogue of the way light is refracted by the objects I create.

Langeloo, Drents Landschap Nederland (The Netherlands)

I had a picture of an old 1856 meeting house. Then I watched a Netflix documentary about a 100 year old abstract artist. Inspired in some strange way I transformed the meeting house into an alien spacecraft. Perhaps I have too much time on my hands, too much imagination, or maybe I'm already thinking like a 100 year old. But I do like how this came out.

Ripley: Final report of the commercial starship Nostromo, third officer reporting. The other members of the crew - Kane, Lambert, Parker, Brett, Ash, and Captain Dallas - are dead. Cargo and ship destroyed. I should reach the frontier in about six weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off.

Ripley: Come on, cat.

Alien (1979)

A macro photograph of my succulent plant which has decided to flower. I guess it has to compete with the geraniums!

It has suddenly burst into a mass of these alien-like flower spikes. The foliage of this particular succulent is especially fragrant. Perhaps a tad overwhelmingly fragrant. So I place it between the coconut-fragrant geranium and the Australian native mint bush, and that sorts things out.

My Canon EOS 5D Mk IV, with the Canon f 2.8. L 100mm macro lens.

This is the first of a set of shots from Valencia, the mini project is called 'Aliens'. Valencia had been high on my list of places to visit, and towards the end of 2015 I spent a few days there. I was not disappointed at all. Calatrava at his playful best.

Why Aliens though? I'd seen many pictures of these buildings and people likened them to fishes, and its often clear to see why. However I arrived late at night, and I wandered around without even taking my camera out with me - I just wanted to look and take in the surroundings. In the dark, there was something different to the shots I'd seen - they'd taken on a different appearance - they looked more like mechanised aliens just waiting silently - until the time was right. It was just a feeling but it stuck enough to become the title.

Recently most of my images have been high key - however there are some situations where this just doesn't work, all these shots are dark, taken either during the day with massively blue clear skies or at night

This was a 3 landscape shot vertical stitch
