This quite but alien-looking little guy is a leafhopper in either the Oncopsis or the Macropsis genus. Unfortunately the photo isn't from an angle which would make it possible to identify further - but it is still a cutie, right?
For a behind-the-scenes shot of it next to my finger for scale, have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53046885882/

I've long wanted to photograph this strange vegetable grown in my garden, which also tastes very nice I may add (the vegetable that is, not the garden ;) ). Today's Smile on Saturday Group's theme Vivid Orange provided a very welcome excuse to do so.
I certainly wouldn't want to meet this on a dark night, or on an alien planet for that matter. It looks as if it might ingest you in the blink of an eye (assuming it has one) while demonstrating appalling table manners. Or worse. (Probably best not to think about that - creativity can have its downsides lol...).
Thank you for taking time to look. Much appreciated. I hope you enjoy the image and sleep well tonight. HSoS :)
[Handheld in daylight with a dark cloth background. LR for colour boost, taking out the blacks and crop. Affinity Photo for rotation (enlarged the canvas to fill in); micro detail sharpened in Topaz Detail. A bit more colour tweaking and there you have it :) ]
"I admire its purity. A survivor ... unclouded by conscience, remorse or delusions of morality."

Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge. Detail from Terry New's cold cast iron sculpture "Cleft, 2004". This is a part of the Sculpture Promenade .
I took this after the snow fell and all the flowers in my garden were dead. Their corpses (for lack of a better word) look almost alien like.

A more detailed closeup of the praying mantis in the previous shot.
To get even closer, two lens were used mounted together - one Canon 100/2.8 lens and the other Canon 50/1.8 lens, hand held with Canon 430EX flash fired. The DOF is hence only about several millimeters, just enough for focusing on one eye!

Like this lamppost is alien between the trees I feel often alien between other humans.
Alien - Lebanon Hanover
I like to wander some graveyards alone
And think of all that I've become
What kind of box I would go and would you even notice?
My disappearance
My impressions
Iʼm just waiting... waiting...
[Chorus]
And until then, my desolation
Will be my trademark, I'll always remain alien
And however hard I try to integrate
I'll always remain alien
[Verse 2]
You say I should go out
In every brutal town
There is someone of substance
Forcing me to do things I never do
For instance, laugh at jokes of you
Small talks have simply no relevance
[Chorus]
And until you change, I'll keep my delighted face
It is my trademark to always remain alien
And however hard I try to integrate
Iʼll always remain alien
Hope everyone has a fantastic Fly Day Friday, and a wonderful August weekend!
HFDF! :)
(Blue long-legged fly. Probably not alien at all..... :]

Came back from a bootcamp trip with Jave , D_BREEZY and Albert. Definitely another fun filled adventure with great light, fall colors, tons of junk food (definitely avoided the mt. whitney omelette special this time!) and tons of driving.
This is one from UAC. I walked past this with the light shining (yes even in October the light shines down into the canyon) and thought of an alien's head when I saw this.
My recommendation if you want this shot: don't go unless you enjoy being fondled by tourists, other photogs and the other aliens that flock to this joint. ^^
Let me know what you think. I'm still debating if I should keep the dark area in shadow or just crop all of it off.

Week Eight's Theme: Long Exposures
I imagined tiny alien spaceships flying up and down my street.
I thought this looked like a scene from the X files where the abductee wakes up inside a UFO looking up at strange alien technology! It's actually the ceiling and ornamentation of Alicante airport in Spain!
With Matt wearing a headlamp, my taking this one second exposure with a flash then shifting the colors, this shot came out looking like an alien from Mars or something!

This sensitive Alien Queen (1992 Kenner) is working nightshift at my toy museum. She is screaming hysterically for camera flash! She hates the light!!
Today I had to speak to actual human adults, 7 at one time. It did not go well. I seem to listen in a different language I speak in and my listening language is really not well developed. I wasn't even sure what they were talking about most of the time. Maybe because I am part alien or I could be part tulip. You all are great listeners. What do you think?
