The crew of the Sulaco in hypersleep, en route to LV426.
Some Aliens movie trivia for you: There were 15 crew members on board the Sulaco - so the number of cryo pods in this picture is movie-accurate!!
If you watch the excellent 'Making of Aliens' documentary on Youtube you'll find they used the same mirror technique to multiply the number of cryo pods in the movie scene. This was in the days before CGI of course.
PS. This shot has not been photoshopped atall - although in retrospect it could have done with a little to remove the mirror line across the floor.
Tonight, we hosted a big fondue event with the Peninsula Swiss Club in Silicon Valley, California. With 120 attendees, it was a major effort to prepare all the fondue and bread. After the event, I headed to nearby Castro Street in Mountain View for some night photography with my favorite Dream Lens. Closed to cars since COVID, the street’s outdoor dining and warm lights create a European ambiance. Though many restaurants had already closed, I found a table covered with a plastic sheet, its water puddle perfectly reflecting the bokeh of the streetlights.
Maybe it's just my imagination running wild, but when I look at the picture, it feels like being on a boat in the middle of a lake, gazing back at a city's skyline—while countless round alien ships hover mysteriously in the night sky.
I processed a balanced, a photographic, and a paintery HDR photos from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
