The King Penguin is the largest of the five breeding penguin species in the Falkland Islands. This pair was photographed at Volunteer Point in late spring, approximately 2 months before chicks are born.
It’s a long time since I went out to photograph a sunrise – maybe that’s because it’s way too early during the summer time. After a strong storm the day before, we had a good chance of getting some fog in the morning. Enough reason to get out the camera again. This tree stands on a field near our village. So i passed it a lot of times and i already had the idea of this picture in mind. That morning everything came together.
This Sandhill Crane couple seemed having lovely affection toward each other. The way they looked to their companions gave a very sweet feeling. Love is universal.

It was pretty unpleasant driving the A9 with reduced visibility in thick snow and near-fog conditions, so I pulled over to take a photo of this well-known tree in a field beside the road.
One of the first frames off my new Sony equipment, a 5-frame HDR, median-blended with ImageMagick and paper texture added in Serif Affinity Photo. This is probably best seen large to show the detail of snowflakes falling against the tree trunk.

Pentax K1000
Expired Fuji Velvia 50
I recently gifted my wonderful little Pentax K1000 to a good friend as their wedding gift. Bittersweet for sure, as I have had this trusted companion now for over a decade. But It had fallen out of the rotation & I love the act of giving and receiving film cameras to and from loved ones. (In fact, this camera itself was gifted to me by an old colleague.) Shooting film is already so special, somehow this makes it even more so. To my delight, I discovered a fully exposed roll of Velvia 50 inside from a few years ago. What a nice parting gift. Thank you for all the good years, Pentax K1000. May you have many more. xx
Taken beside the Strathmore/Hope Road north of Altnaharra: a scene full of time from distant mountains to history of the foreground disused shepherd's house surrounded by former grazing terraces.
Cormorant fishing is quite an old tradition in Guangxi province of China. But now-a-days, the fishermen use their nets and not the birds for fishing. However, some men, like the one in the photograph, have not abandoned their cormorants yet. When no fish is caught in the net, this old man buys fish from market for his pets and feeds them. The fisherman and his birds hold a strong relationship between them. I was able to capture such a candid and funny moment that also depicts his affection for the old companions.
Our latest visitors, taken through a chain link fence, a first. A small group of gobblers put on a display of affection for one hen that was nearby.
When you both get a quiet time together and you exchange affectionate stares and touches. Love is within each others hearts and your souls are one. Others see you both together and sense that this is an affectionate time.
A stray cat living in our son's neighborhood has been visiting for years. Her aging body now prevents her from climbing to rooftops, but that's where she used to hang out. Her appearance on roofs earned her the name, "Roof Cat."
Families will take Roof Cat into their homes during especially bad weather. But, the neighborhood feline prefers to live outdoors. Today, she let us pet her as we sat on our son's front porch.
