Over the Christmas break I was hoping for some good photographic opportunities. As I was heading home after the last day of the term, I noticed some late afternoon mist on The River Wear close to where I live. So I grabbed my camera and managed to catch a few images that I was pleased with. Not very often that we get mist here in the afternoon.
Bit of an odd time of the year to upload a wintry scene I guess. This has been sitting on my hard drive since February but it's one that I still like of my favourite clump of willow trees close to where I live.
A cold, bright, winter sun lighting the roadside fence .... and the remains of a marvellous display of lenticular clouds too!
Happy Fence Friday 😊
Watching the weather forecast I learned a new cloud definition: Lenticular clouds ... and this week they were in the sky every morning!
"Lenticular clouds are stationary clouds that form mostly in the troposphere, typically in parallel alignment to the wind direction. They are often comparable in appearance to a lens or saucer." (Wiki)

To all of my wonderful Flickr friends who have filled my world with the most beautiful images over the last couple of years, I wish you all a wonderful Holiday season!
I haven't been around much lately because we've all been sick with colds! Watching my wee one sniffle and cough is not fun, but she's on the mend. It's our first Christmas with her, and we feel so blessed!
***Since you're all loving this photo so much, I thought I'd share the experience behind it. My hubby and I took a morning drive a few weeks ago, and were driving around in the hills a few miles away. In the morning light, I saw a silver tree. A sparkling SILVER tree. It took my breath away. I yelled "stop!" as I often do when we're out driving around, and jumped out of the car and walked through some mud to get to the tree. It was some sort of evergreen/fir tree, covered, and I mean covered, in drops of dew. I'll never forget that moment, because I've never seen anything like it before. The drops sparkled like little jewels all over it. We've gone back a few times since then, and there's been a little bit of dew, but nothing like that first day that I saw it. It was a magical moment.

Sunrise Spitting Trees.....
Yesterday i awoke to an unexpected snowstorm. the weather guys had predicted we wouldn't get any accumulations if any snow at all. Yep you guessed it; they were wrong again. we had about two inches of fresh snow.
I left the house at around 6;30 and went for my usual walk to the park, it was a balmy -18 with the wind chill and I shivered against the chill as the especially strong wind gusted to well over 70 KPH slapping any exposed skin with a bite that actually stung my cheeks and forehead. i wrapped my scarf around my face and pulled down my jackets hood to block the nasty cold wind. undeterred i plodded on. just as i got there the sun was breaking and spreading its warm beautiful light across the horizon. I actually got lost in the moment and for a second forgot how bitterly cold I was, I quickly snapped off several photos and braved on to find more. .
Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

Having given up on plans of getting over to Wharfedale today due to everything running late - I headed out this evening to shoot the flooding near its peak. I spent a couple of hours down by the millennium bridge as the early evening light turned to night - and came back with quite a few photos I'm happy with. Here's the first.
