We've had snow like this the past few days. Snow, freeze, thaw, snow, rinse, repeat.

Two trees at Woodlawn Cemetery

Color Photo

This is a necklace pendant of the tree in the winter. I photographed the life of this tree one year through the seasons. The tree still stands some 15 years later but is currently surrounded by smaller trees and bushes. Time changes things!

The reflection gives way to thinking about the root system of the standing tree.

A bleak day in the heart of winter, the snow turning to ice, making a stroll down my road fraught with danger. I think of the mail carriers who have to deliver the mail on days like these. Rain, snow, or shine, the mail must go through.

The only mail that ends up in my snail mailbox these days are bills and advertisements. It sure makes it easy to ignore walking out to the road to get the mail in the afternoon.

WINTER❄️

Untouched and so beautiful❄️

Also a memory of that same day as my previous Winter upload❄️

The trees looks so fragile and small from this distance. Taken from Le Prorel at Briançon, France.❄️

I took this photo on a New Year’s Day walk on Black Down hill in West Sussex, England. The trees at the top of the hill had remained frosted with ice from the overnight cold, and the scene resembled a winter wonderland. The surrounding fog added to the atmosphere of the scene.

Photography in Slovenia is all about the churches. There are around 3,000 of them, in a country that's geographically smaller than Wales. And many of them are very cutely perched on top of hills, surrounded by stunning Alpine scenery. You often get cloud inversions, but sadly not for us on this day. Never mind - this passing cloud at sunrise was pretty enough. The church is St Tomaz in Selca.

A snapshot of part of Sillans-la-Cascade, a nearby village where we often take Bob for a walk. These two majestic trees caught my attention. If you look through them you can see the village chateau top left and the church with the spire and the building behind the trees is the Bastidon which is used for events. it was a beautiful afternoon yesterday and Bob enjoyed it so much as she can run off the leash.

Happy weekend everyone! :-)

A two mile walk from my door-step here in Durango, Colorado this past weekend yielded some fun results in the snow that I was happy with. I don't usually photograph a ton in the winter, mostly out of laziness; however, I was really excited that I forced myself out of the house for some much needed photo time.

Happy Fence Friday!

Taken during a lull in the storms of November, when the low cloud lifted leaving a misty view ahead. The scene is much the same this week - the trees are still bare and the landscape has that winter rawness. Another week or two and the scene will change, and Spring will finally arrive ;o)

Continued apologies for slow commenting, as I struggle with recovery from shingles. The road is bumpy, and some days the energy and mental focus just isn't there. Pushing doesn't help, just makes it worse. Patience is the name of game, I am told ;o)

Sunrise Afterglow.....

Yesterday i awoke to an unexpected snowstorm. the weather guys had predicted we wouldn't get any accumulations if any snow at all. Yep you guessed it; they were wrong again. we had about two inches of fresh snow.

I left the house at around 6;30 and went for my usual walk to the park, it was a balmy -18 with the wind chill and I shivered against the chill as the especially strong wind gusted to well over 70 KPH slapping any exposed skin with a bite that actually stung my cheeks and forehead. i wrapped my scarf around my face and pulled down my jackets hood to block the nasty cold wind. undeterred i plodded on. just as i got there the sun was breaking and spreading its warm beautiful light across the horizon. I actually got lost in the moment and for a second forgot how bitterly cold I was, I quickly snapped off several photos and braved on to find more. .

I looked up through this tree and enjoyed the pattern of branches in front of a beautiful blue sky. No editing at all to this capture.
