Tree Lined River...
Overnight we had a fairly heavy snowfall that continued well into the morning turning the dull grey of winter into a white clean wintry wonderland. i dressed in my warmest winter clothing and grabbed my camera bag and headed out the door.
i was giddy with anticipation of the photos I would get. in my mind I imagined all the fantastic shots I would take and I was not disappointed..... what photographer among us doesn't imagine that this shot will be his best so far. i know I see the shot in my mind before i even raise the camera to shoot.
i painstakingly adjust my ISO to get the crispest possible shot given the low light conditions of early morning. i then set my aperture and dial in my shutter speed, check and recheck my light meter for correct exposure and then compose and shoot.
here are a few from this morning. I will post a couple more later this week.

I have felt stagnant for a while with my art. Usually I paint, but this is a torn paper artwork- you figure out your design, tear out pieces of magazines in whatever colors you want to use, and voila! Here is a picture!
Laughably, one of the hardest things for me has been finding magazines! I actually paid for subscriptions just to get magazines so I would have them to tear up!
I already have another in process and that makes me happy!
Merry Christmas to all if i don't get another chance to say it and thank you for your kind & continued support this year. I did try to find a proper Christmassy snowy trees one, but it was well and truly hidden on the hard drive :)
Some vistas you keep going back to as they have different appeals at different times of the day and year.
This is one of those....early morning mist through the tree across the lake gave reflections and a mysterious atmosphere.
Just a magic moment! I was there by chance and thrilled to see the place transformed magically.
Many thanks to all those who view, fav & comment my pictures. I very much appreciate it.
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.. Marcel Proust
Delicate branches reach across a muted sky, capturing a moment where nature pauses in quiet reflection. The bare trees, silhouetted against drifting clouds, evoke a timeless stillness.
There is serenity in the silence between winds, a soothing calm in the subtle shades of blue sky and brown trees.
i actually thought the sight of this tree against the collapsing building was a strangely beautiful sight
The trees shine forth in a different way after losing their leaves - in this form, they go so well with autumn sunsets!
Believe it or not this was taken from a large parking lot at the Sami Museum in Inari. Just below the ridge of snow are about 20-30 snowmobiles, belying the serenity of this apparent peaceful winter scene. Perhaps this image is a reflection of what I want it to be--unblemished, with only the wind to strum through the trees.
From my window this morning. Thanks to everyone for viewing, faving and commenting on my images. Stay well and safe.

One of my favourite trees in a nature park. Difficult compose as there is a kiddies playground right next to it, so framing it is challenging.
This past week most of Ontario went through a major ice storm. The temperatures dropped below freezing then hovered in the -1 -2 Celsius range for three days; all the while it rained heavily, causing major chaos on the roads and covering trees and roads in a thick sheet of ice. Branches too week to withstand the heavy Burdon of the thick ice snapped some even splitting in two, leaving such a mess for people to clean up. Many were without power for days. Where we live the damage was not as bad as in the Barrie and northern areas of southern Ontario.
Early the next morning I ventured out; carefully slipping and sliding my way to the local park to get these shots. As I crossed the frozen field I had to stomp my path through the frozen ground. The heavy layer of ice weighed down the trees until they were bent down and touched the ground, even the fence of local baseball diamond was covered in a transparent layer of ice.
This photo of a pine tree really shows how much ice cover there was. all the limbs were so heavy they drooped low and close to the trunk.

Heavy With Ice....
Every once in while I like to pour through my photo archives looking for the one or two that got away, yesterday was one of those days; I was home alone and spent the better part of the day reminiscing and remembering some of the adventures Karen and I have been on. I pulled several images that on second sight caught my eye. I will post two today and perhaps when I have time post a few of the others. Each is wonderful in its own right and can stand on its own as a strong image. I love images that tell a visual story that really do not depend on a lot of explanation.
these two images taken after a weather event in February earlier this year. the ice hung heavy on the branches bringing down quite a few trees and electrical wires. despite the devastation the beauty was undeniable.
