So far this year we have really lucked out where Snow & Ice are concerned!
Only a couple of days of snow that didn't stick...and a little Flurry or two. A couple or so days of Flurries are predicted for the next week or so...YAY!!!
My country drive produced several images of windmills/turbines. This is the first of three that I will post.
Obviously this is not one of the massive turbines that we're used to seeing these days. Rather I believe it may be a country farmer's attempt to harness the wind to help with their farm's energy needs.
It caught my eye as I drove by, and I included a lateral line of silhouetted trees as an artistic touch to complete the presentation.
Enjoy!
Low lying fog combined with the lacey winter trees, against a mountain backdrop make for a beautiful scene here in Zirconiai, Western North Carolina.
Icy Trees.....
Every once in while I like to pour through my photo archives looking for the one or two that got away, yesterday was one of those days; I was home alone and spent the better part of the day reminiscing and remembering some of the adventures Karen and I have been on. I pulled several images that on second sight caught my eye. I will post two today and perhaps when I have time post a few of the others. Each is wonderful in its own right and can stand on its own as a strong image. I love images that tell a visual story that really do not depend on a lot of explanation.
This image was taken after a weather event in February last year. the ice hung heavy on the branches bringing down quite a few trees and electrical wires. you can see the trees on either side of the winding road are completely covered in ice making everything appear white and frosty blue.

Another image from Loch Ard. The light was so good that morning and the water so calm, that I spent ages just picking off images like these.
The snow is slowly retreating ... overnight freezes are making an ice-rink out of many snowy surfaces. But the snow does transform the world, and brighten the morning with sunshine and glitter! I took my new MOG Domiplan 50mm lens out to catch a moment while the sky was still full of snow. 😊

Just Out For A Stroll...
February is always so cold and gloomy but not this year...a few weeks ago the weather was beautiful and sunny a untypically warm day for a drive to the Lake; a perfect time to take a leisurely walk along the lake shore, free from the hustle and bustle of typical weekend crowds.
This Photo of a couple enjoying the walk along the path at Jack Darling park in the waning hours of the day.

BDCC monthly challenge - Winter trees
This is my favourite local tree and I have been trying to get to photograph it all month, finally managed it yesterday.
Lensbaby Sol 45 and Omni spectre wand...the wand lent the colours to the image.
After processing this photo I thought the tree looked a tad sacred what with the bright white stones in a semi-circle at its base and then the upright polls in the vineyard. Or, perhaps, I just have a vivid imagination 😊
Have a great week ahead!

Tree Lined River...
Overnight we had a fairly heavy snowfall that continued well into the morning turning the dull grey of winter into a white clean wintry wonderland. i dressed in my warmest winter clothing and grabbed my camera bag and headed out the door.
i was giddy with anticipation of the photos I would get. in my mind I imagined all the fantastic shots I would take and I was not disappointed..... what photographer among us doesn't imagine that this shot will be his best so far. i know I see the shot in my mind before i even raise the camera to shoot.
i painstakingly adjust my ISO to get the crispest possible shot given the low light conditions of early morning. i then set my aperture and dial in my shutter speed, check and recheck my light meter for correct exposure and then compose and shoot.
here are a few from this morning. I will post a couple more later this week.

I have felt stagnant for a while with my art. Usually I paint, but this is a torn paper artwork- you figure out your design, tear out pieces of magazines in whatever colors you want to use, and voila! Here is a picture!
Laughably, one of the hardest things for me has been finding magazines! I actually paid for subscriptions just to get magazines so I would have them to tear up!
I already have another in process and that makes me happy!
