The massive 11 foot high winglets of the Boeing 767. Removing the pacific wave from the bodies of the New Zealand fleet was a stupid idea if you ask me, so we will have to make do with looking at it on the tails and winglets from now on.
Here she is two years ago after having the winglets installed here in Hong Kong.
The winglet on a Pegasus Airlines 737-800 at Boeing's Renton, Wash. factory. Advanced technology winglets allow airlines to save on fuel, extend its range, carry more payload and reduce engine maintenance costs. Blended winglets are wing tip extensions which provide several benefits to airplane operators.

OK. So I'm watching UFO Hunters on the DVR (the only way to watch TV; no commercials FTW!), and they have this rapid montage of aircraft: SR-71, something that looks like a Kfir, an F-117, an old E-3, this thing above, an F-15, and an F-106.
It's only onscreen for a few seconds, during which it is rolling to port. At the very end another wingtip comes into view, which made me think that it's an X-plane. Turns out it was the moon. But I couldn't find one that matches.
I also thought it looked an awful lot like the MiG 1.44 (and a few other canard aircraft.
But nothing seems to match. It looks like something Burt Rutan would design, if he build jet-powered fighter aircraft.
I really want to know what this is, because I just have never seen it before. Or if I have, not from this angle.
Also, it would make a cool MOC.

Sunday 20th December brought chaos to many airports across the UK, with Manchester being no exception. With the runway being closed every hour or so planes had to get de-iced and out whenever they could. Due to a cancellation and a 12 hour delay I had enough time to try and take some photo's through the windows of Terminal 1.
After a flight over the pond, the passengers on board this plane had to endure a further hours wait on the taxiway before it could travel to its gate. This Continental Boeing 757, like continental's other 757's, is fitted with Winglets to help reduce fuel consumption and CO2 and alot of other bollocks like that.

A winglet-equipped United 757 comes into San Francisco.
I have repeatedly raved about the "Lesbian-Friendly Skies" of United Airlines. And it is San Francisco, its requirement for city contractors (including United Airlines, the largest airline in San Francisco) to treat gay relationships on the same level as heterosexual marriages, and the push from San Francisco's gay activists, that resulted in United Airlines becoming the first US airline to extend employee benefits to same-sex partners in 1999. Later in 1999, United was my ride out of the rampant homophobia of Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Melissa Etheridge was the inflight audio.

In early 2013, with United renovating its p.s. service from San Francisco and Los Angeles to New York, and converting the service to a two-class service featuring 28 Continental BusinessFirst lie-flat seats, N596UA was switched to the p.s. fleet, and became the first p.s. aircraft to fly with the new configuration.

The weather was far from ideal for planespotting, but it's not like one sees a Boeing 727 everyday in 2006. I never spent the time to find out what this 727 is about... a special charter or is it a converted freighter?
I believe this is C-FLHR.
The wording on the vertical wing actually reads 'Leaving on a Jet Plane" in some weird font. Perhaps Flair still thinks that it's the early 1960s and flying on a jet is a new experience! Well actually come think about it, "Leaving on a 727" would be something that many younger people have never tried before!

Condor Flugdienst Boeing 757-330 D-ABOK is being towed towards the parking area in the southern part of the airport by a Kalmar TBL 190 aircraft tractor.
c/n 29020 (l/n 918) has had its first flight on 25.02.00 with the test registration N1795B and was delivered to Condor on 25.03.00. It was transferred to Thomas Cook Airlines in July 2002. Since 28.05.04 the airline is named Condor again.
This jet was recently equipped with blended winglets.
