On the way to Baltimore.

United flight 1501 arriving from Houston (KIAH). This particular aircraft is equipped with split scimitar winglets.

This was the first time I had seen these new winglets, which were first implemented by United in February 2014. This winglet design produce less drag and will reduce fuel consumption by up to 2%.

Note that not only has the ventral strake been added, the original winglet now has the scimitar shape.
