This beautiful house in the Northern Neck of Virginia has had an addition or two. The original house is the middle section where the two red brick chimneys are. It had to be built up higher after water damage was incurred from a hurricane. The octagon portion of the building is a later addition and was constructed at a higher level above the ground. I am not sure when the right side was added onto the structure.

There is a Osprey nest platform and many reeds for ducks to hide in,

Happy Window Wednesday.

This house sits way back off the road surrounded by corn and soy fields. I think at one time this house was a manor house for a large farm. Today, it looks like it may be lived in, but the curtains in the upstairs windows are in tatters and the front porch steps have collapsed. The right side of the house looks empty. HWW

It is a pub though it was closed the day I was there. Located harbour side in Dildo, Newfoundland. I'll have to go back some day soon for a drink!

Happy Window Wednesday all!

not just a feeling

Hope you all have a super Hump Day. HWW and I will check in after work.

An "eye to the sky" at an interesting courtyard of an otherwise unobstrusive business building between Potsdamer Platz and Tempodrom. Taken during a photowalk with Flickr friends back in July 2019. Earlier that year, in March, I had already visited this place on another walk with other Flickr friends, where we'd had fun with performing (and capturing) photographers' "neck pain contortion poses" for each other (please see first comment 😉) – which, ironically, resulted in us being expelled from that courtyard, because we were "photographing people". Indeed, we did, but not strangers, only each other. Two girls photographing each other there in fashion model poses with their phones weren't asked to leave. I've already experienced this in a few places that it brings security or other employees into the scene when they see several people with cameras in the same spot. It once even happened at a shopping mall where we had specifically asked the employee at the information desk at the mall's entrance whether it's OK to take photos there, and the answer had been "Yes!" even regarding the – considerate (of course...) – use of tripods. But when we did just that it didn't take long and a security guard showed up and told us that "It's not allowed to take photos!" – when at the same time several people next to us were taking photos with their phones. Contradictions...

Happy Window Wednesday and Happy Hump Day, Everyone!

Beautiful autumn day at the Lake Tegel in Northern Berlin. The unusual bicycle on the jetty and the charming old boat next to the newer, streamlined yacht caught my eye. When I took a few photos of that lovely autumn scenery, I thought that the old boat was empty. But when I processed this image for Window Wednesday, I realised that, unwittingly, I had kind of trespassed onto a rather special moment. That boat hadn't been empty at all. Please zoom in, and you'll see what I mean with "special moment" ;)

Happy Window Wednesday, Everyone!

My Grandfather worked for Santa Fe for over 50 years. He loved to talk about trains!

We were so lucky on our trip weather wise. This was the only rainy day we had and mostly we were inside. The sky was very grey on this day so I added some storm clouds to give it some dimension. The Galveston Train Museum on Galveston Island, TX.

HAPPY WINDOW WEDNESDAY(S) !!

This "windorama" is the back side of one of Alsace's many colorful, half-timbered (columbage) houses. Yes, this one is really that blue!

It is a fine thing, I think, that so many of these houses are kept looking as if they are relatively new; rather than ca. 200 years old. (Of course, the windows themselves are relatively recent replacements.)

After four MM captures in a row I think it's about time for something quite different. This is another photo taken last (late) summer at the Willy-Brandt-Haus, the German Social Democratic Party's (SPD) headquarters. I had my camera on my small table top tripod, so this shot was taken from nearly ground level. This is a HDR composed of three images. Processing steps, as far as I can recall them, were in ON1 Photo RAW (the inevitable HDR filter that I use for almost every photo, because it almost always adds a nicely crisp and clean touch to a photo without overdoing it); I also tweaked something in Luminar, and as a final touch I did some descreet aditional sharpening / denoising in Topaz Sharpen / DeNoise AI just

recently.

Happy Window Wednesday, and Happy Hump Day, too, dear Flickr friends :) Stay safe and take care!
