Sun In The Trees...
Spring time is certainly a time of wonder and awe, as the trees which have been dormant these last five months, begin to bloom and show off their stunning arrays of beautiful colors.
In our local schoolyard there are two cherry trees planted out front, which are magnificent, thick with blossoms; bursting forth with bright pink and crimson leaves. They are truly spectacular.
This is the sunrise blasting its gloriuos life giving light through the cherry trees.

Sun Spots..
This shot of an extremely overcast day last year at Jack Darling Park; the sky was brooding and rain was in the forecast. the daylight was strained through the heavy cloud cover, giving everything a dull muted tone and making the blue highlights in the clouds cast a moody glow on the entire scene; suddenly the sun found a small hole to shine through and the rays pierced the sullen sky reflecting its glorious glow on everything in its path..

The Deep woods 2..
Today was a lovely time for a hike in Heart Lake, the first few days of fall are always the most amazing as the leaves are just starting to lose their colour and change from dark green to a very light yellow.
The sun was just past midday and was falling into the western sky, a sudden burst of its brilliant light found a gap in the canopy and like a huge spotlight flooded the forest floor with its golden rays.

Morning Glory....
This morning the skies were filled with impending rain, hundreds of seagulls effortlessly floating on the invisible currents dotted the horizon, as they drifted this way and that. Soon a pale pink hue appeared as the early morning sun tried desperately to break through the thick clouds that had dominated the night sky... but within minutes of taking this shot it began to rain the sun disappeared behind the bulging sky overhead.

The Amphitheater..
A trip to Cambridge and Paris Ontario turned out to be the perfect day for taking photos.
The sky was turbulent and moody, changing every few minutes from bright to dark from overcast to bright sunshine it was a real challenger for the light meter and my photography skills to keep it all in check.
The Old amphitheater that sits on the corner of the Grand River is a wonderfully renovated space that leaves ruins and modern seating to stir the imagination whilst watching plays and other events held there.

Thistles Everywhere...
A few weeks ago we made our way to Heart Lake and spend a few hours braving the cold to get some shots.
A brilliant blazing winters sun forced its way through the cloud cover; illuminating everything in its path. the hundreds of thistles that dot the field in the park glowed at the edges because of the brilliance of the sun..

Lake Gathering..
Last weekends snowfall was a pleasant surprise as the weather was quite warm and the snow fell for the better part of the morning letting up in the afternoon. we made our way to Heart lake, A small crowd had gathered at the edge of the frozen lake, the photo almost looks black and white if it wasn't for the colours on their winter jackets.

Collingwood Terminal...
September 2020 we took a trip to Collingwood Ontario to get a few shots of the harbor and surrounding area. Collingwood is a sleepy little town that hosts twice its population in visitors annually.
The historic Collingwood Grain Terminals. built in 1929 have seen the town grow from its meager beginnings to the bustling ski and summer resort town it has now become.
The Collingwood Grain Terminals Revitalization Project is such a significant undertaking, likely one of the most impactful that Collingwood has seen since the Terminals were erected in 1929. Months of planning, reviews, public engagement, and evaluation to ensure the desires of the community are met for the Terminals’ future and the future of the Collingwood Waterfront,” says Sonya Skinner, Town of Collingwood Chief Administrative Officer. Creditview farms..
Last week we hopped in the car just before dusk and chased a golden sunset across farmers fields and down rural roads... it flitted behind thick dark clouds and blasted through thin wispy ones. till it fell just beyond the horizon out of reach of my camera lens. It was the crowning glory to an outstanding spring day.
As we drove north on Creditview Road the sun started to drop rapidly, we pulled off on the shoulder so I could get a few last shots before the sun disappeared completely. I snapped this shot of the sun descending upon Creditview farms, sending splinters of light in all directions; bathing the field in a golden yellow glow.

Where The Lake Meets...
Karen and I took a day trip to Jack Darling park venturing into the Rattray Marsh Protected Wetlands. the marsh has a mile and a half of railed boardwalk that meanders its way through the marsh; giving visitors an unobstructed view of the area and yet protecting the flora and fauna from being trampled.
This is a shot of the point where the river meets the lake.

Winter Fog...
From the archives:
The forecast called for unseasonably warm weather in January 2017, we hiked into the park and found the fog would get thicker and thinner as we walked. at one point the fog lifted enough to get this shot.

In Coming Swan..
Saturday was the perfect day for a stroll along the edge of lake Ontario, the water was relatively calm only a few waves the sun was bright and a few clouds hugged the horizon. .
While taking shots at the estuary to the Rattray Marsh Protected Wetlands, i was shooting out towards the lake when i heard this loud flapping sound. as i turned to see what was going on. a large white swan flew over Karens head and right into my shot.
I had my 14-24 on, so the shot was a bit wide... but it still was impressive to see a swan up close in flight.;

Out Buildings....
This morning the skies were turbulent with thick heavy snow clouds, snow began falling in the early morning hours and persisted throughout the day leaving thick white deep snow everywhere.
just before noon Karen and I headed out to our favorite conservation area to get a few shots.
This shot is of the Change rooms at the water park; the snow was falling so hard you could barely see a few hundred feet, making everything seem to fade into the whiteness.

Calm In The Blizzard..
In March of 2019 a heavy wet snow fell covering everything with a thick layer of fresh fluffy white snow. We got up early and headed to the park where we found ourselves in a scene from the movie Narnia; snow was falling from the branches above every time the wind blew. at times it was as if it was still snowing... with so much snow falling from the heavy laden branches overhead.
We worked our way through the park and found ourselves walking across the frozen river; we could hear the crack and creak of the ice straining under our feet, we know that the water at this point is only a few inches deep this time of year so no worries about falling through the ice.
While i am busy taking photos Karen usually finds something to do to pass the time. when i turn around after being lost in my thoughts i find her laying on a park bench catching snowflakes on her tongue. she is so much fun to be with.
