Along The Fence Line....

This morning the skies were turbulent with thick heavy snow clouds, snow began falling in the early morning hours and persisted throughout the day leaving thick white deep snow everywhere.

just before noon Karen and I headed out to our favorite conservation area to get a few shots.

This shot is of fence line along the edge of the entrance to the park. HFM

Golden Sunset...

This shot of an evening sunset at Heart Lake conservation area in August of 2018.

As the evening quickly approached, the yellow paddle boats basked in the golden glow of the falling sun, they rocked gently on the calm and placid surface of the water; the lake was calm; as smooth as glass, reflecting the surroundings with a mirror like quality.

Driftwood 2 ...

This is one of those shots buried deep in the archives, on one of my hard drives that never saw the light of day,

A day at Jack Darling Park in August 2015 turned out to be a great day for taking photos. These two very large pieces of driftwood had washed ashore and were now stranded on the beach.

A week later I went back and they were gone, I assume the Parks and recreation crews had brought chainsaws and cut these lovely pieces up and tossed them into a shredder.

Nature Streaming..

Yesterday Karen and I made our way through the deep snow fall of the past 24 hours to wander through the park and make some fresh tracks.

Along the path ahead of us the sun broke through the trees and streams of light bathed the snow covered ground before us. it was a magical moment.

Snow Bench...(HBM)

This morning I headed out very early, as overnight a light dusting of fresh snow had fallen. there was a white coating of snow on everything.

The bench has been sitting idle for months now. no one wants to sit and enjoy the weather now it is winter., HBM

Tall Trees....

In early May Karen and I went for a hike to Heat Lake Conservation area. in the south end of the forest we looked up through the tall trees and saw the pale blue sky framed between the treetops and i thought this would make a great wide angle shot.

Wonderland..

In March of 2019 a heavy wet snow fell covering everything with a thick layer of fresh fluffy white snow. We got up early and headed to the park where we found ourselves in a scene from the movie Narnia; snow was falling from the branches above every time the wind blew. at times it was as if it was still snowing... with so much snow falling from the heavy laden branches overhead.

We worked our way through the park and found this pathway covered in fresh fallen snow surrounded on both sides by tall snowy trees.

The Great Lakes.....

This is another of those shots buried deep in the archives on one of my hard drives that never saw the light of day,,this particular shot from August 2017; taken at Spencers On the Waterfront in Burlington during a sudden change in weather. previously it had been calm and sunny, then without warning the clouds rolled in and the winds picked up. This was at the beginning of the change over from nice to nasty.

Out for an early morning hike Last weekend to get more fall photos... It was the perfect time to get out and take fall colour shots,

This shot taken of the love tree, it is the only tree in the park that people have carved their initials into along the main trail that leads to birch alley.

Winter Reflections...

Karen and I took a day trip to Jack Darling park venturing in to the Rattray Marsh Protected Wetlands. the marsh has a mile and a half of railed boardwalk that meanders its way through the marsh giving an unobstructed view of the area and yet protecting it from being trampled.

This is a shot of the frozen marsh as the sun was starting to get ,lower on the horizon.

Country Roads...

In October last year we ventured out looking for the first signs of fall and were not disappointed. Just north in Caledon we found this sideroad that was exploding with colour. the canopy of the trees sheltered the roadway below making a leafy tunnel through which we could drive, leaves riding the wake of turbulent air behind us as drove by.

Snow Bridge.

This is a photo taken December 2017, a severe winter storm blanketed the province with record snowfalls in February of that year.

Karen and I love winter and find that you get the most amazing photos after a big snowstorm. everything is pure white and looks remarkably clean and unspoiled.

Driftwood...

This is one of those shots buried deep in the archives, on one of my hard drives that never saw the light of day,

A day at Jack Darling Park in August 2015 turned out to be a great day for taking photos. These two very large pieces of driftwood had washed ashore and were now stranded on the beach.

I would have loved to have been able to take the one closest to the right front of this image home with me... but there was no way I could have managed it without two or three people to hoist it into my car, even then I think I may never have been able to get it out myself. So I did the best I could and shot plenty of photos of it.

A week later I went back and they were gone, I assume the Parks and recreation crews had brought chainsaws and cut these lovely pieces up and tossed them into a shredder.

The Tracks Of The Sun........

This sunset in mid September was subdued due to the smoke that was in the atmosphere; caused by the US west coast fires.

The idea that this cloud of smoke has drifted over 3000 miles to affect our sunset boggles the mind, even as i try to grasp the scope of just how big these fires really are.

We have friends in California and Oregon and pray for their safety and the safety of all those affected.

This image is of the yellow burst of sun generated just as the setting Sun was filtering its golden rays through the thick lower atmosphere.. or in layman's terms Sunset LOL.

Leaves Of Gold....

In October last year we decided to get out and take fall colour shots day, Karen and I made our way to the back side of heart lake conservation area; which is least visited, in an attempt to avoid the massive crowds that are also out for a walk in the fall colours.

Along one part of the trail, the forest is mostly tall pines and other fir trees, with spruce, birch and maples along the outer edges. This shot of a steep section of the trail, was lit with bright yellow reflections from the maples on the outer edges of the stand giving this image an otherworldly glow.

2 Blocks from my house is a bridge we refer to as the low level bridge. Further down the river is a much taller bridge at about 200 feet. There was a foggy night a few weeks back and I decided to get some shots. It was dying down here. I did get some shots 20 minutes earlier which provided more fog cover and suspense.
