Lifeless...
From the archives.
In December 2017a brisk winter photo walk with a few friends turned out to be a wonderful but cold day for some amazing photos.
This particular shot of a dead tree in the middle of the snow covered field turned out exceptionally well. I decided to edit it in black and white to add to the mysterious feel of that day.

Heavy Branches...
In early January the skies were turbulent with thick heavy snow clouds, snow began falling in the early morning hours and persisted throughout the day leaving thick white deep snow everywhere.
just before noon Karen and I headed out to our favorite conservation area to get a few shots.
This shot taken on the far side of the park in the fir tree area.

Dancing Trees 2...
This morning I headed out very early, as overnight a light dusting of fresh snow had fallen. there was a white coating of snow on everything.
The Dancing trees bent by the prevailing southwestern winds which blow hard through this part of the park are also lightly covered in snow.

Fields Of Yellow..
Last Month we found this spot in the park where yellow wild flowers had taken over the hill where the kids usually toboggan in the winter.
The bright yellow flowers set the hill ablaze with colour as they gently swayed to and fro on the gentle summer breeze.

Expanding Upwards...
Monday morning I woke up and looked out the window and noticed a heavy cloud cover and the sun was just starting to break the horizon. i could see the hint of a golden yellow sunrise and hoped i wouldn't miss it.
I made my way down to the park and as I crossed the tracks I looked at the rising sun; the colours were enhanced by the dark cloud filled sky above. I had to snap off a few quick shots to capture what I was seeing. I think this shot does it justice.

A New Day Begins...
from the archives.
The forecast called for early morning thunder showers and inclement weather; Knowing they are the best days for sunrises... I made my way to Burton park and started taking shots of the sunrise.
the yellow and crimson blue hues of the sky only lasted a few minutes then were lost in the thicker cloud cover that suddenly enveloped the rising sun.

Riding The Wind.......
Karen and I took a day trip to Jack Darling park In mid february and it was a warmer day than we have had in a long time. We walked from one end of the park to the other. We travelled along the lakeshore till we got to Burlington. Walking just beyond the pier we spotted this seagull riding the invisible winds, coasting slowly, gliding just above the ice cold water. in the distance, amid the pale blue sky she hung above the frosty lake when a slight updraft carried her far out of sight.

Crimson And Blue..
Out for an early morning stroll to catch the sunrise before the sun burned all the clouds away.
the sky was a mix of yellow, orange, blue and crimson. the trees silhouetted against the rapidly rising sun made this scene extra special.
Within thirty minutes the clouds had all dissipated and a pale blue sky was all that was left of this glorious September sunrise.

The Clearing..
Friday we spent the day exploring the Credit river as it flows south from Cataract Falls to Brimstone;
The woods are fairly dense not letting in much light, as we were in the deepest part of the forest we came upon a clearing; A place where the canopy opens up to the bright blue sky above. The brilliant sunlight danced between the leaves overhead, sparkling and glinting through as they danced between the the wind swept branches.

Fairmont Royal York..
..
Another shot from the archives...
Taken May 2019 on a trip to downtown Toronto i captured this image of the corner of the Royal York Hotel on Front street.
It is such a beautiful old building filled with history from a bygone era.. the stone work is impeccable and it has held up to many years of use since it was commissioned and built in 1927..

A Cold Brisk Walk...
The sun was diffused by some pretty thick cloud coverage; there were gaps in the sky that allowed the sun to spill its glorious light all over the landscape. the firmament was a translucent blue with patches of white and grey mixed in for effect.
The water on the surface of the lake was at a dead calm, with only the slightest ripples disturbing its glassy surface.

Silos In Sunsets Glow......
The sunset tonight was subdued due to the smoke that was in the atmosphere; due to the US west coast fires.
The cloud of smoke has drifted over 3000 miles to affect our sunset boggles the mind, even as i try to grasp the scope of how big these fires really are.
We have friends in California and Oregon and pray for their safety and the safety of all those affected.

Driftwood And Rocks......
This shot of an extremely overcast day last year at Jack Darling Park; the sky was brooding and rain was in the forecast. the daylight was strained through the heavy cloud cover, giving everything a dull muted tone and making the blue highlights in the clouds cast a moody glow on the entire scene. A washed up piece of driftwood flirted with the waves that had carried it to this distant shore...

The Gathering....
This morning the skies were filled with impending rain, hundreds of seagulls effortlessly floating on the invisible currents dotting the horizon as they drifted this way and that. Soon a pale pink hue appeared as the early morning sun tried desperately to break through the thick clouds that had dominated the night sky... but within minutes of taking this shot it began to rain the sun disappeared behind the bulging sky overhead. This is hand stitched from four images.

Dragon Boat...
In May 2014 Karen and i went for a hike to heart lake. the water was still and calm there was barely any wind at all only a very slight ripple was moving on the deep cold waters. overhead the sky was menacing; thick and heavy with the threat of rain.
The water reflected the sky and tree line like a mirror, the dragon boat races had finished for the day and the teams had all gone for a well deserved rest
This is a photo the colourful Dragon boats which were parked deep into the reeds.

Snowy Birch .
The first snowfall in January was a pleasant surprise as the weather was quite warm and the snow fell for the better part of the morning letting up in the afternoon. we made our way to Heart lake,
This photo along the trail the snow had stopped falling, we were sheltered from the wind by the large steep terrain to our left and for a brief time everything was quiet and still; the path before us appeared as magical as a winter movie scene.

At the top of a steep hill is a large tree in a small clearing. there is now ay to get far enough back to get a good shot of just how big it was. but you could see by its sheer immenseness it has been there for centuries. undisturbed by the world around it.

One Saturday afternoon in May a friend and I decided to go to Newcastle and take some photographs. The weather was fantastic and the beach was lovely and quiet and perfect for shots like this :) I really think this is great viewed Large :)
The Mourne mountains in the background were a bit hazy, and the tide was far out, but it was still a lovely day.... The KFC wasn't bad either LOL
I have a feeling we had our Summer back in May, because so far, July has been a wash out :( hope you are all surviving anyway.
Have a great Monday and I'll try to catch up with you very very soon :)
Thank you all for the views, comments and faves :)
Sun In The Trees...
Spring time is certainly a time of wonder and awe, as the trees which have been dormant these last five months, begin to bloom and show off their stunning arrays of beautiful colors.
In our local schoolyard there are two cherry trees planted out front, which are magnificent, thick with blossoms; bursting forth with bright pink and crimson leaves. They are truly spectacular.
This is the sunrise blasting its gloriuos life giving light through the cherry trees.

Budding Hibiscus...
Our Hibiscus is budding and soon those big beautiful flowers will appear. they bloom with such a magnificent show of colour, which lasts only but a few days. some years we get two or three blooms a year and sadly some years only one.
I am eager for the blooms to open and to get a few shots of them in all their glory... It certainly is worth the anticipation and the care it takes to keep them alive for the rest of the year.
