Someone with her favorite toy!

I had my camera setup clamped to the stair with the flash remote and in front.

I had to throw the toy from where she'd drop it (on the other side of them room!), run over to the camera and get ready to shoot.

Week #32 of 52 of 2012

Theme: In motion

Sam was not impressed by the synchronized swimming. It may be very well choreographed and performed, but can it really be classified as an Olympic "sport"?

That said, I found it amusing, if surreal, to watch.

(No offence intended to synchronized swimming fans out there :))

Elf LOVES to be brushed. I sometimes wonder if it is to make up for a babyhood spent in the wild...

Two things I love: My husband and my cat. Contrasting human and animal, moving and still, tall and short...

This was my vote but the rest of the family liked the other one better... ;)

Weekly Theme: Against The Light / Flare

Week #32

Taken August 11, 2011

Title: 21st Century Shizoid Man

Notes: This week's theme cried out to me for a portrait of some sort, and as chance would have it, one happened my way. The above photograph is of "Willow", a gifted musician, singer, songwriter and generally passionate youth, who let me shoot him for this week's theme. The harsh light of the sun glaring down on Willow, casting harsh shadows (and adding flare!), helped to bring out the gritty look he wears, having been traveling the country for months by rail with nothing but his backpack, and a banjo. The photo and the subject himself reminded me of the song... hence the title ;-).

this is pretty much me at the moment. tired, out of focus, off-center, clumsy, broken, and wallowing too much in that hollow place in my heart. thus why i chose this photo from others in the shoot that may have come out better. the raw openness of just feeling broken and empty comes through (hi there, camera remote).

i've been far too absent from flickr, and it annoys me, but i also seem to be dry in what i have to offer. words are also escaping to serve me as they should. or rather, i have too much that i want to say and spill out, but it isn't my right or place to use those words or say them where i want. in damming them up, i've managed to dam up everything.

so I'll just push through and try to shake off this mood and put back on that happy and perky face everyone expects. or at least as close to happy and perky as I ever get…

An overhead double-exposure while walking. I think.

More apples. We're still eating them, there are still some on the tree, and it's (now) November!
