I'm going to wildnerness ranger boot camp next week, and on Thursday and Friday I'm taking a Wilderness First Aid class. The instructor wrote to say that we need three things: appropriate clothing to be outdoors all day both days; lunch; and a watch. I have a watch, but it's been dead a while now. Rather than find it (I have no idea where it is) and replace the battery, I decided to buy a new watch. I was astonished at the array of watches available--considering that most people rely on their phones anymore as timekeepers--and also at the fact that 90 percent of them were analog. Which is what I wanted. In particular, I wanted a second hand. So I can pay attention to a pulse without having to count the seconds. Analog is truly beautiful. I'm glad the watch-making industry has come back around to that stance.

We saw this seal - which isn't usually seen in this area - on our Stubbs Island Whale Watching trip out of Telegraph Cove. It was sleeping in the water (they hunt for fish at night) and only woke up seconds before our boat would have hit it. It leapt out of the water and then gave us a series of dirty looks for disturbing it!

mi hermano, aunque con mucho retraso, ma sorprendio hoy dandome un regalo de cumpleaños, su reloj binario, el cual me ha tenido que explicar no sé si fueron 4 ó 5 veces como demonios se leia la hora... en la foto, junto a mi otro reloj... curioso le hize la foto a la 1 en punto, momentos antes el binario tenia varias lucecistas encendidas que conste :P
While at the jetty today I was pleasantly surprised to see these two adorable little boys fishing (no hook). I couldn't resist taking a ton of photos of them.
Upper floor of a former Virginia State Hospital, which was repurposed as a medium-security men's correctional facility in the 1980's.
During operation of the correctional facility, this room was likely a multi-purpose room for inmates, but when this room was part of the active hospital, this ward housed suicidal patients. There would have been low dividing walls to give the patients a small amount of privacy, while also allowing the nurses to keep a close eye on the patients.
Ohh s**t... Watch out!
Letting the horses have a pasture race, i was laying flat belly down on the grass, ready to shoot when they got out on the pasture straight in to a final turn!
But the horses wasn’t joking today! they meant business!
And there was i laying with my DSLR in my face with 3 horses going past me ~1 meter from my left arm, at apes**t speed!
They looked a bit surprised be my laying there... a bit too surprised!
