One of the giant windows into the aquarium at the Academy of Science. Like I say I was really into these types of shot this weekend. It was hard to get it with just a few people in it though due to it being a Sunday.
Went on a long weekend with Tara up to San Francisco. We love this city, last time we did a lot of non touristy stuff so this time we played big tourist. Hell we even stayed in Fisherman Wharf I have not done that since my ExpressJet days. We had a blast though, just a good time getting away. Thankfully it did not rain much while we where there, though it did rain the day we left, but we were leaving so it did not matter at that point.
This child, although just over two years of age, waited patiently while his palm was decorated with henna. He walked away, still holding the palm open and out. I gather it takes some time to set before you can wash it off.

Long crested eagle resident at the WBS. Nice bird to watch but I always finding myself wishing it was free because he really don't seem very happy being there--at least thats the way he seems to me.

Seen on a footbridge over the River Salzach in Salzburg.
Selective colourisation. The stickers caught my eye but the image was dull and inspiring, so I decided to pop out the important bits.
If they think they are being watched they should go to the UK. It might be an Urban Myth, but apprently 'we' have the most CCTV cameras per person of anywhere in the world. And yet we are still terrified of crime.

This photo was taken at Shades of Blues, a local blues dance event. The lighting is extremely low, mostly provided by a string of small Christmas lights along one wall. These conditions challenge even the fastest of lenses at the highest of ISO, so I decided to try something a little different. I manually focussed at infinity, set my camera at ISO 200, the lowest native ISO, and set the aperture to f/8, which gave an exposure time of 60 seconds. I set the camera on a convenient platform with a view of the dance floor, framed the photo, and clicked the shutter.
I knew this would render the dancers as an ethereal cloud, but I was treated to some unexpected surprises. A person with a lighted cell phone walked by and left a bluish light trail. The tiny aperture rendered the Chrstmas tree lights as tiny starburts. A person at the left of the frame, watching the dancers, was nearly motionless for the entire capture.
