Another shot of the daisies in the unmowed lawn. I'm trying to see how many totally different shots I can get of these little flowers...
This was intended to be part of the Stand Up for Peace Challenge last week but it took me a bit to figure out :D It's about the best homage I could to the Indian Holi Festival. For those that don't know and in short it's basically a festival to celebrate love. After I thought about the challenge a bit, I got to thinking: standin up for peace is awesome, but even better if you just applied this to all aspects of your life. Stop hating on others and stop hating on yourself. If everyone took a grip more time putting others before their own insecurities, then maybe there would be no need to stand up for peace. Maybe we would already have achieved it.

Sun suffocate the atmosphere
But I'm safe with you far away from you
Another fire through another open door
It's what I'm living for
Breath of mine be all that you need
It's not much from a broken nothing
Wear another truth on your turned-up sleeve
This is everything I dream
Uh uh yeah he-hell no
I am wild eyed and waiting
Uh uh yeah he-hell
I am wild eyed and wandering
Fortunately I have enough of you
You say it's not where we are
It's not what we choose
Looking out from all that you have built
With red skies I will drift
Uh uh yeah hell no
I am wild eyed and waiting
Uh uh yeah hell no
I am wild eyed and wandering
Uh uh what are your dreams?
Uh uh what are your dreams?
You are looking at a handwound 17-jewel pocket watch movement in a dead cheap "Polaris" pocket watch from the Yantai Watch & Clock Factory.
These watches were sold for the breathtaking amount of 75 CNY (equals about 10.40 EUR or 11.76 USD) as souvenirs at the Yantai Watch & Clock Museum.
Considering how much gunk is inside this movement, it is no wonder the watch is that cheap...

Mt Hood seen from Portland's Mt Tabor Park. Uploaded for Smile on Saturday! :-) theme: Silhouettes. HSoS everyone!

I've been to the Merced National Wildlife Refuge at least four times. Each time I've photographed this scene at sunset, sometimes twice. It's a favorite of mine and of many photographers.
I love watching coyotes mouse in the fields. This photo was taken in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

Have a great day and thank you for visiting!
It’s been a while since I shared a photo from my Sabi Sands safari, so thought why not post one of its most magnificent residents — the leopard.
This young cub was perched high in a tree, curiously watching us as we watched him. I can only imagine what he thought of the rapid-fire click of all those camera shutters! The more sensible among us (if I can ever be called that 😉) had our cameras set to silent mode.
It was fascinating watching his mother teach him the essentials of leopard life — how to wrestle, eat, and nap — all safely from the branches above, far from hyenas, photographers, and other distractions. I have such wonderful memories of these extraordinary animals. Nature at her finest.
Today's fun fact: That lovely smell of freshly cut grass? It's actually the grass releasing distress signals! The scent comes from green leaf volatiles — compounds plants emit when damaged, to warn nearby plants, deter grazers, & attract helpful insects.
So maybe I’m not lazy after all — I’m just being considerate by not mowing too often 😉
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Thanks for taking a look, I really appreciate your comments and support.
Discovered this little cutie relaxing under our bird feeder. It stayed long enough for me to change my lens and get a few snaps, while yawning, stretching, and rolling. What a treat. Shot thru two dirty glass doors. : )

Did you ever have the feeling that someone was watching you? Maybe several? Well, they didn’t have Netflix back then. Gdansk, Poland...right before a storm...
Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae)
Each year thousands of these gentle giants rest, play and nurture their young in the sheltered waters of Hervey Bay. A real treat to watch them.
