Every time I go to Lake Samsonvale in the late afternoon, a flock of people arrive to watch the sunset. A few photograph it with their phones. Some, like me try to catch a decent picture. But most people just sit and watch.
These are my old bird-watching tools, but now I mostly use a 160-600mm camera lens and the internet to help me identify any birds I don’t recognize.
I watched this Tri-colored Heron forage for food for a while but couldn't take any pictures because of extreme backlighting. The bird eventually flew to where I caught it in good light in flight.

This little robin came down to take a look at me, when I stopped to take a break. Taken during a walk around College Lake.
Was on a hike a few days ago and as I was aproaching the water to fish, all of a sudden I jumped as i nearly stepped on this guy. This is a Common European Viper or in Norwegian a Hoggorm.
While I was shooting some people I became aware of someone watching me: it was a cripple across the road. I was struck by the sly expectancy of his look.
Us lit up by the fireworks... Steadied the camera on the camera bag to help keep from blurring the shot. Self-pic shot, with my wife. Nothing was done with this in Photoshop really... all came from the camera. Shot it at ISO 1600 with not too much 'noise', gotta love the 20D.

My favorite "sunrise in paradise" location on Key West. These palms are featured on Jimmy Buffett's A1A album, and the back cover is about 50 yards north of here. While he lived here this was a favorite spot of his and he wrote a few songs here. Have been attempting to get the best shot of these palms for many years. I'M STILL TRYING!
I read that they were starting a major beach-renovation project and
I had hoped that they wouldn't remove my very 'cherished' magical beach-palms that I have enjoyed at sunrise for the last five decades. As I scooted up...they are still here...like beacons in the night...but they are STILL here! LOL Whew! So happy the city is keeping them!

Aube en couleurs sur le chemin du Petit-Minou. Une composition classique pour un lieu très photographié. Mais on y revient toujours tellement on y est bien !
