Green Cay
As I arrived at Green Cay this morning, 6 Roseate Spoonbills arrived at the back of the visitor center and made indidviual landings where a some waterbirds were feeding.
Best viewed large on black.
Underneath El Capitan in the Winter...and watching some climbers going up the wall. In the Winter! Maybe they like missing the crowds too.
Best time of the year, a time when you can kick back and just watch the festivities unfolding. A time when you can sit and get pampered
After I almost hit it, this Prairie Dog stopped in the middle of the road looking after me as if to say, "Watch Where You're Going!"
This pocket watch once belonged to Dad, and was given to him by an older brother. I want to think that it may have belonged to my Papaw (which would make it even more special considering he passed away when I was only three). It has no legible name on it, and I've been unable to get the back off to see any numbers, etc.. on the works. Although the crystal is cracked, it still runs and seems to keep time.
The background is actually an old, bark-bottom ladder-back chair that was in the old farm house when we moved there in the 60's. It was underneath the house for years, and was given to me by Mom some time ago.
Venerable old cedar tree stands watch over gravesites at the Walker Family Cemetery on the Fort Hood Military Reservation near Gatesville, TX.
When these several thousand acres were appropriated for the Fort Hood installation, the farming families occupying these lands were forced to sell their property to the government and vacate their lands. Several old cemeteries were set aside for preservation, visitation, and future interment by and for those families and their descendants. My mother-in-law and several other of my wife's family members are resting in this cemetery.

Was on a hike a few days ago and as I was aproaching the water to fish, all of a sudden I jumped as i nearly stepped on this guy. This is a Common European Viper or in Norwegian a Hoggorm.
