Stand up to racism
A racist offensive against refugees, migrants and Muslims is being pushed by some politicians and press. It is crucial we
respond to this by standing in solidarity against attempts to divide our communities. The appalling treatment of refugees across Europe and the staggering rise in anti-Muslim hate crimes must be challenged.
Let’s send a message that drives back the tide of racism, fascism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and the scapegoating of migrants and refugees – we say refugees welcome here and yes to diversity!
Join the Europe-wide UN Anti-Racism Day Demonstration when tens of thousands march across Britain, with major mobilisations in London, Scotland and Wales joining thousands in cities across Europe and around the world to say no to racism.
Stand Up To Racism has led some of the biggest anti-racist
mobilisations in Britain of the last decade, including the UN Anti-racism day demonstrations of 2014 and 2015 and the 100,000 strong Refugees Welcome demonstration on 12th September 2015."

My big Roman numeral ten is both a cutout and an add on. I got to use my new embossing gun here. The silver was done with a rubber stamp that I made by just cutting an eraser with a serrated knife.
The X's/Roman numeral 10 serve as both motif and pattern. The hand carved stamp that I stamped with my new Versamark inkpad is also patterning. I love the Versamark! I'm going to get a lot of use out of that one.
The need to facilitate orientation and communication through visual organization principles, was the starting point for the design of the uniforms of official personnel during the Olympic Games.
A contest judge had to look different from a ticket controller, a health worker from a technician. All told 88 groups of persons needed special uniforms. To make this multitude clearly understandable the personnel was categorized in superordinate groups under the aspect of related functions:

About one hundred invited guests and media attended the official opening of the Visual Voltage exhibition at Miraikan in Tokyo in the evening of October 20. The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Mamoru Mohri, Chief Executive Director of The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), and Mr. Stefan Noreén, Ambassador of Sweden in Tokyo. Interactive Institute’s Magnus Jonsson and Sara Backlund gave a talk entitled ”Swedish Frontiers – design trends and innovation” at Mirakan in connection to the inauguration.

“Envision…a different world” —Octavia E. Butler
Students from Rockdale Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School in Eagle Rock recently participated in an art project in which they created images, shown here, inspired by the futuristic writings of award-winning science fiction author Octavia E. Butler. Butler (1947–2006), a Pasadena native, bequeathed her papers to The Huntington. An exhibition about her life and work, titled Octavia E. Butler: Telling My Stories, will be on view at The Huntington April 8–Aug. 7, 2017. A selection of 19 student artworks will be displayed in the exhibition.
The art-making was part of a larger science fiction writing project, with a curriculum developed by Huntington educators and Rockdale teachers. For students, the program was a unique opportunity to use primary sources at The Huntington to understand a writer’s craft while developing their own voices as writers. For The Huntington, it was a rewarding way to explore the potential of the Butler collection to motivate and inspire young learners.

The album documents the visual journey of Sri Swami Vishwananda and the Bhakti Marga devotees on pilgrimage to Vrindavan, India.
Vrindavan is an ancient city located in the upper part of India near Delhi, where Lord Krishna spent his childhood. The city is associated with many pastimes (leelas) of Lord Krishna, including the famous Ras Leela which he performed with the gopis.
Highlights of the trip include unforgettable experiences to temples and locations where Kirshna performed His pastimes and the Darshan given by Sri Swami Vishwananda at the Jiva Institute on the last day of the pilgrimage.
