Yesterday I visited Rīga and had time to visit Old Rīga too. To my surprise there I found Christmas tree and beautiful decorations.
I took over 500 pics of the redwoods in Southern Oregon and Northern California but it was this v-short video that best depicted the beauty of the site. You can see the biotic pump in action condensing water from fog into rain…and of course all the beautiful trees!
Temperate rainforests are coniferous or broadleaf forests that occur in the temperate zone and receive heavy rain...the moist conditions of temperate rain forests generally support an understory of mosses, ferns and some shrubs and berries.
Temperate rain forests occur in a variety of regions around the world - the Pacific Northwest of the USA & Canada, the Validivian forests of southwestern South America, New Zealand and Tasmania, the Northeastern Atlantic (small, isolated pockets in Ireland, Scotland, and Iceland), southwestern Japan.
These forests pull in large amounts of water vapor from surrounding regions and from nearby bodies of water. As the vapor condenses into rain, the local atmospheric pressure drops...the whole rainforest-water vapor system is called a biotic pump, because the living forests move the water.

I'm back in Boston - and back to decent internet speeds - so now I have to start posting stuff from my trip.
One thing I love to do when I visit California is watch the hummingbird feeders - and this time, I tried out my iPhone 6s slow mo video for the first time.
Listen to hear it chirping and look closely to see its little tongue going in and out!
We decided based on some bird books that this one is either an Allen's hummingbird or a Rufous hummingbird, which are apparently very difficult to tell apart.
This video was at 120fps and 1080p (I also took some at 240fps and 720p which I'll post later for comparison). I had to export this using iMovie on my iPhone to get it to upload to Flickr, not sure if that lost any resolution but I hope not.

Here are some of my favorite spring flowers beginning to bloom.
There are some crocus, a variety of lilies, daffodils, a tulip, and white buds (not sure from what variety of tree).
I put this video together using Canva spring flower video clips and audio called "Don't Lose Your Way".
I guess you could lose your way while in a garden full of beautiful flowers.
