Gilbert, un ami randonneur, m'a souvent parlé des illustrations de son épouse.

Depuis de nombreuses années, Fanou laisse libre cours à son imagination en composant des images. Lorsque j'ai vu ses réalisations, j'ai aussitôt proposé de les poster dans un diaporama animé.

Voici un vidéo d’envolée des oies des neiges... Elles faisaient une tournée au-dessus du lac pour réchauffer leurs ailes puis elles se sont déposées sur lac…

Quelques minutes plus tard, elles se sont envolées à nouveau pour se diriger et se nourrir dans les champs.

Ces envolées sont chaque fois si impressionnantes!

I managed to get within six feet of these amazing animals on the last couple of days of my trip. No hide just standing with them with a fine midge net covering my head an essential part of my kit, as I would not be able to stay still otherwise. Taken at night. The Badger is still behind the tree but is having a shake and a scratch getting the midges off.

I'm back in Boston - and back to decent internet speeds - so now I have to start posting stuff from my trip.

One thing I love to do when I visit California is watch the hummingbird feeders - and this time, I tried out my iPhone 6s slow mo video for the first time.

Listen to hear it chirping and look closely to see its little tongue going in and out!

We decided based on some bird books that this one is either an Allen's hummingbird or a Rufous hummingbird, which are apparently very difficult to tell apart.

This video was at 120fps and 1080p (I also took some at 240fps and 720p which I'll post later for comparison). I had to export this using iMovie on my iPhone to get it to upload to Flickr, not sure if that lost any resolution but I hope not.
