If you look carefully you will see a beetle carrying something back to the mossy mound towards the front Badger from the bottom of the frame and freezes when it sees the Badgers. (It is about 13 seconds in)
Although the bulk of their diet is made up of earthworms, they also eat slugs and insects and have a keen sense of smell and sharp claws that can root up grubs from under the soil surface.

"Thankyou for all your help this year Merlin and Morgan," said Santa. "You should both head home before this storm gets any worse, I'll will have to head off early this year since I'm down two reindeer, both Rudolph and Dasher have upset tummies, too many candy canes I suspect but it won't do to have them flying over the tops of peoples houses, can't take the risk they they wont leave a mess if you know what I mean."
Merlin excitedly said "Santa we can help you and the reindeer with the sleigh, I'm a big and strong like a reindeer and Miss Morgan is almost as strong as me, sprinkle us with that magic pixie dust so that we can fly too."
"If you are certain you want to do this?" asked Santa.
"It will be so much fun" said Morgan "and we will be able to see all the beautiful parts of the world where our Flickr friends live, it will just be a pity that they will be fast asleep while we visit".
"Then I only have one more thing to ask" said Santa, "Miss Morgan with your coat so white will you lead the sleigh tonight?, Ho! Ho! Ho!"
We wish everybody a Happy and safe Christmas and when you get up Christmas morning you might be lucky enough to come across the imprints of Santa's sleigh, look among the hoofprints and just maybe you might spy two sets of paws prints among them.

Venomous Beach Weiners
As we were enjoying our time on the beach in Oregon, listening to the sound of the waves and feeling the joy of bare feet in the sand, suddenly out of nowhere appeared two of the rare, elusive, dangerous and highly venomous Beach Weiners, known for their poisonous bite and unrelenting need to chase humans.
We had been warned earlier that this was the time of year they are most likely to appear and to be vigilant in watching our backs but we were not particularly concerned because we had inquired of others who’d been on the beach earlier if they had seen any and we were told they had not.
So we went on to the beach with a false sense of security which was quickly eliminated when the evil little creatures showed up to harass us.
Being that my daughter is younger than me, I knew she would be their first target so I did what I felt was necessary and tried to lead the savage Weiners away from my daughter, hoping I could get them into the ocean somehow and rid us of them altogether. My only thought was saving my daughter from these most insidious little creatures. Do not be fooled by their small size. They are extremely dangerous and should not be taken for granted.
Fortunately, as I was leading them away from my daughter they became distracted by some other humans and veered away leaving us to retreat to our car until we could see that they have moved far enough down the beach for us to safely return.
This is just a warning to those who have never been to the Oregon coast and have never heard of the Venomous Beach Weiners. They do exist and you must be careful around them or you could end up in the hospital very easily on life support.

Today I spend some quality time with Flatty, my most treasured Kookaburra. There are very few days when she does not come to visit, but today was different. Kookaburras have a special call that signified danger. Today Flatty came to the backdoor and gave the danger call. She repeated it a few times, and so I went to her.
For about ten minutes Flatty stayed, and I stood with her, she was safe from any danger while ever she was with me. Standing about 30 cm, or a foot, from her I videoed about 5 minutes of our time together. I hoped she would repeat the alarm call, but she knew she was safe with me.
When she flies away you will hear the call of another bird, this call is the "all clear" to say the danger had passed. This video is just a few clips from our time together, nothing dramatic, but precious to me, and something I'm happy to share. To me, it is a huge privilege to have such a trusting relationship with a wild bird.

Really nothing season but the view was still amazing.
