My first visit to the Grand Canyon National Park was in 2015, the day started fine and clear, only to cloud over the closer we got to our destination. Along the way locals we spoke to said a mighty storm was brewing, causing my spirits to sink.
That afternoon we settled into our accommodation in the National Park and made our way to a viewing place. The weather was fine where we were, but we could see a wild storm on the southern rim. For me, what could have been a disaster, turned into a photo opportunity.
We stayed until the sunset and I snapped away with my camera all the while. The next morning dawned fine and clear. It was then I got my first view of what visitors usually see when they visit the Grand Canyon.
This photo video is a selection chosen from some of the photos I took on that first afternoon. I've since visited the Grand Canyon a second time, in 2019, but nothing compares with that first afternoon on my first visit. I hope you will enjoy my unique visit to this amazing and beautiful place.

Bit shaky. Shot it with a Canon EOS 5Dsr and a 100-400 zoom with 1.4X extension. Hand held. Didn't expect the opportunity, so did not have a tripod.
Each fall, the golden-crowned kinglet flutters into the Oklahoma Cross Timbers, trading northern forests for a winter refuge among blackjack oaks and post oaks.
Barely larger than a hummingbird, this tiny songbird—less than an ounce—travels south from Canada and the northern U.S., braving cold fronts and long distances to reach its wintering grounds. In the Cross Timbers, golden-crowned kinglets weave through dense thickets and mature woodlands, often in mixed flocks with chickadees and titmice. Their high-pitched calls and flickering movements betray their presence as they glean insects and spiders from bark and foliage.
Males occasionally flash their brilliant yellow crown bordered in black—a dazzling sight for patient observers. Though diminutive, they’re extremely hardy, surviving frigid nights by fluffing their feathers and huddling in sheltered branches. Their arrival marks a seasonal shift, a tiny quiet resilience nestled in the heart of Oklahoma’s ancient Cross Timbers mosaic.

My main job was to help clients on this morning, so I set my camera to handle the next hour of light and left it running. It captured 1430 photos over 45 minutes so i could show you this time-lapse video of the spectacle that we witnessed!

Festa Cigana

In the pavilion of Uzbekistan at the 2025 world expo in Osaka, visitors are shown into a cylindrical room. After the doors shut, there are 360 degree projections on the internal wall of the drum. When the doors open, visitors find that they have been transported to the rooftop of the pavilion.
There was much excitement when we looked out to see a mama turkey with her teeny tiny little babies in the yard. SO adorable!
