I used glue and tacks to secure the peices...(would love to have used hand and machine embroidery, but it would have taken 12 months )
the gallery walls are urgent for art right now.
The instructions for the "Double Leaf" were a little confusing. You're supposed to cut three layers, but then it says to twist them individually and the photo looks like it's only one color at the end of floral wire. I used one or two. The "Long Leaves" are pretty.
Blue sky was created using turquoise watercolor. Students applied salt to wet paint for texture.
Trees were cut from papers they made by gluing pieces of tissue paper to a separate sheet of paper using a glue and water mixture.

Added some bits of yellow tissue with pink roses ...and also the little torn bit of blue with white polk dot paper.... what fun...
I sprayed Walnut Ink onto a paper towel, then dabbed it onto my postcard design. Since there were some areas where the paperboard's logos were showing through, I concentrated the walnut ink on those areas, to mask it a bit. (Of course, you may like the looks of the logos showing through -- in which case you're welcome to skip this step!)

I couldn't get the cuts even from the accordian fold. See how at the folds some of them aren't deep enough? I opened it up and re-cut the points that were too shallow.
Gift Box 60th Birthday Cake. Caramel mudcake with white choc ganache filling and fondant covering. The bow and tissue paper is modelling paste.
I've been having lots of fun at The Dal House forum in recent months. October is the Dal Project Runway challenge that Offgenemi/gochemoche is hosting.
This is for Challenge #1, where contestants are to create an outfit for Dal made out of paper, or paper-based materials. Use of adhesives like tape & glue is fine, as are sewing materials like needle and thread.

2 of my pencil cases wrapped up to go to new homes! The one in the back is my upcycled hankerchief pencil case which has some gorgeous embroidery detail, John Lewis you eejit! They'd clearly be much more appreciated as pencil cases....
The one in the front is a herringbone heavy weave pencil case made from an upcycled coat. I *love* both of them, and luckily for me I have a tonne of pens so i've made one each for myself too!!!
Tissue paper; spotted filefish and queen triggerfish from Corals & Fishes Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean; pearl or lace gourami from Freshwater Aquarium Fishes - all on a postcard advertising a show at the Guthrie Theater called "Nice Fish."
We are working our way through WII history in our homeschool unit, and made these jars as a craft. I love how they turned out... and how well they go with our little wooden blocks as a simple decoration!
To trim the excess paper, turn it over and trim along the edge of the paperboard.

First attempt at Valentine's Day crafts.
I don't think I'm quite done with the ornaments. The paper hearts are going to be part of a garland.

Ella thoroughly enjoyed sampling the flavor of her Christmas presents' wrapping paper. We don't acually let her eat the paper, but she's very quick!
Our cat got to open his Chrismast presents today. Next year, I'm just buying him a big pile of tissue paper--by far his favorite thing to get!

I used the frame from an old painting and simple tissue paper for the flowers. Recycle, re-use, re-style!

Adding another layer of Mod Podge decoupage glue to the top of the design. This has a couple of purposes: it helps make sure everything's good and glued, plus is gives the top a shiny, slick surface (the glue dries clear).

"Mogwai Art"
Ink on Tissue Paper
Yesterday I went to Kolektib to jam with a few friends. It was quite an intimate set up and a couple of other "real" bands played with us. It was a laid back evening until Juan Pablo Dream did an awesome set @ CubaoX. My feet hurt because of too much dancing.
My doodles are usually inspired by islamic art, and i find this kind of doodling very therapeutic. Plus, it helps me pass the time. I did this while waiting for the band to play at this place called Mogwai. I didn't bring any paper with me so I made the drawing on a tissue paper. I figured, eh..what the hell. This will be my drawing for the day. Thank goodness the paper napkin was two-ply.
Now I'm off to lunch with my family. I'll bring my sketchbook this time. :)
My original pattern pieces, made of copier paper, which was way too heavy to attempt to "gather." Also, note the, um, miscalculation of the length of the bodice back.
I drafted these loosely from the actual pattern pieces, at a scale of 1/4" = 1", and I was being pretty loosey goosey with the measuring. I fixed the bodice length when I recut these in tissue paper.
