See if you can spot yours! It has only taken over a year to put the top together... Perhaps another year will see it finished?

Unless you have been very, very lucky, you have undoubtedly experienced events in your life that have made you cry. So unless you have been very, very lucky, you know that a good, long session of weeping can often make you feel better, even if your circumstances have not changed one bit. ~ Lemony Snicket
I feel a bit weird posting this. I am so ugly when I cry. It seems a little voyeuristic to post a picture of me crying. I've actually wandered across groups on flickr dedicated to women crying . . . And it's seriously weird that I took a picture of myself crying. I am so odd. It's just that people pose for the cameras all the time, and here I am just vulnerable and . . . yeh, I'm taking this whole "365 shows you who you really are" thing very seriously.
People always used to tell me I was pretty when I cried. I could see it too. That sounds odd, but I never cried in an ugly way, unless I was really hamming it up in front of a teacher or something . . . Then I started crying about things that were really causing me serious pain, and it all got ugly after that . . .
This lasted ten or fifteen minutes. Then I stopped being so self-pitying and pulled myself together.
I've never seen my mouth pulled like that before . . . it's like I'm grimacing. Eew.
I'm torn whether to post this or not, so, I'll post it for a little time, while I'm doing my History or something, and then see how I feel. It's a big thing letting strangers see you at your weakest moments. I feel embarrassed if my friends see me like this.
OMGG. OMGG. OMGG. This isn't the reason I was crying. Let's just get that sorted.
Anyway, when I donated blood the other day they told me that if there were any problems with my blood they'd call me. So the phone rang earlier this evening and my mom said it was the National Blood Service for me. At this point I started hyperventilating and was thinking "OMGG I HAVE HIV". Then the woman said they were just calling to say thank you for donating and to ask if there was any way in which they could improve the service. I was still trying to calm down at this point so I just garbled that it was all great. My mom then wanted to know what was wrong seeing as they'd called and it was like "Nothing, they just decided to scare the shit out of me." They shouldn't say they'll only call if there's something wrong with your blood. That was horribly scary and I'm still calming down. Good news though, I don't have anything wrong with my blood. It's all lovely.

The Pendleton Round-Up back in the late 70s. Some friends at the tribal cultural center asked me to gather together some prints from those days, they put together a photoshow called "Pictures of Our People." This was a shot they selected. Nobody was exactly sure of the names of these little princesses, but everybody remembered this horse--"that mean little pony." People started laughing when we pulled this print out--"Oh! I remember that 'mean little pony'." To this day, when I see kids packing around their little backpacks with the pretty purple "My Little Pony" logos, I remember this critter from the dark side, the evil twin little pony....
UPDATE!: Jeannine, riding on the rear of "Snoopy" relates this better description of the pony and her memories of those days:
"Snoopy was a little ornery...and the year you took the picture may have been the year when he reared up in the arena and we slid right off his rear end. We used to get a lot of cheers and applause...that was actually a trick that my cousin taught her pony to do (rear up). So, most of the time we did it on purpose...a few times Snoopy got stubborn and did it on his own!
After riding through the parades and the arena during the Round Up, we would go to a stand and get cokes and snow cones and give Snoopy the left overs when we were done. Funny little pony, he was. Full of character, spunk, and drinking coke and eating snow cones with us. Brings a smile just remembering..."
Thanks Jeanine!

Man Bun Broad Ken, Broad Ken in Dark Blue, Red Haired Slim Ken in Patterned Greenish Shirt.
I just made up all those names. They're Fashionistas. I'm not sure their numbers, and at the moment I'm too lazy to do it. I just want to share how nice they are.
The one on far left is the first big boy Ken I got. He's so handsome. One reason I prefer broad Kens over regular ones is that there's more to them. More heft, more plastic, and the clothes are usually better.
The one on far right is ultra pale, almost like a vampire. He has such an interesting face stamp though. He's pale enough to put on the BMR1959 Man Bun Ken if you wanted to.
I love the middle Ken quite a bit. I think he might be my first Ken of color. When I started my collection again, I wanted a broad spectrum that represented all of humankind, not just blonde, white Barbies with blue eyes and large...well, you know.
That was what I received as a child. I know he wasn't my very first Mattel doll of color. I think it was the purple haired fairy I posted on here, too. I'm late in the game when it comes to collecting, and I don't remember what year she was released.
Basically, tldr, he's more special than any other Ken I own, save for the Sun Sensation one.

Those are two things I keep constant in my life. This little boy brings so much of both to me. (This photo was taken by my 3 year old daughter.)

Lets start at the very beginning.... (sorry for those of you who hate this song – I have it in my head now!)
I can’t wait for my new scanner so I will start a page at a time and re-do the scans later if needed (funny my scanner is ok today)
I was determined to get out in the backyard for a cup of tea on the morning I left. I had to leave at 10.15 so just enough time for a quick cuppa and some winter sun and a quick page in sketchbook. It is quite amazing how every time I saw this sketch during the holiday it shouted out “Australian” to me – it really made me aware of how bright our sun is due to the strength of the shadows that I painted. Of course the high frequency of grey days during my sojourn in the UK was probably a factor too!

One of the smaller stages at the 2014 St Pauls Carnival, Mandela's Hideaway stage put on various attractions aimed primarily for children. When I was here though it was mainly recorded music being played. The carnival was marred by six stabbings that took place later in the evening but while I was there the mood was very good-natured.
Among those taking to the stage at The Big Session, which takes place from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 June, are singer-songwriters Dan Whitehouse, Chris Tye and Boat To Row, plus Wolverhampton’s own globe-trotting troubadour, Scott Matthews.
They'll be joining a varied line-up of major names including festival co-founders and three-times BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2012 winners Oysterband, former Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader, the legendary June Tabor, West Country acoustic roots duo Show Of Hands, fresh from headlining London's Royal Albert Hall, tubthumping folk/punksters Chumbawamba, plus the much lauded Leisure Society.
Taking place in the picturesque grounds of Catton Hall, in South Derbyshire, the three day event also boasts its own Real Ale and Cider Festival, an onsite Sculpture Village (complete with a working forge and chain-saw wood carving), impromptu music and singing sessions, morning yoga, on-site luxury camping and a rolling programme of family-friendly activities.
A spokesperson for The Big Session said: “Over the last seven years, the festival has built a great reputation as a welcoming and enjoyable festival with a broad appeal, and that’s something we’re very proud of.
“While we certainly attract big names, we also showcase some fantastic new talent too, making this a festival that is very much rooted in the Midlands.”

This is an officially bad photo, but I couldn't resist those toes! Caught mid stretch - very undignified. Sorry Jazz.
Perhaps a boring photo? I just loved the metallic finish to these colourful Bumper Cars/Dodge'ems. My daughter (visiting Calgary from Vancouver for a week) and I didn't actually go on any of the rides at the Stampede Grounds yesterday morning, but all my kids used to enjoy the Bumper Cars many years ago. So did I!

So yesterday, my friend Kevin saw my photo of a box of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts here on Flickr. The funny thing is, that photo is from about 4 years ago, when we all drove out there and bought a box each. So he emailed me and accused me of torturing him with that tasty image, and he was much compelled to drive all the way out there again and get some more. It was the right choice; those doughnuts are amazing (if not addictive).

11/08/2014. Vintage (1966) Inpact Kits vintage plane collection, this is all 6 of 6:
Bleriot XI, Deperdussin, Martin-Handasyde, Avro Triplane, Avro Biplane and the Bristol-Boxkite.
I have had these for many years now, however each kit was sourced separately one by one. I felt people might be interested in the boxart - which is quite beautiful. The kits are complete - only unassembled, quite a find for kits that are 40+ years old.
Made by Inpact Kits in 1966, although these kits carry advertisements for the movie "Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines" only the Boxkite and the Avro Triplane are used in the film.
