Another Reepham High School related operation and here we see Sanders Wright bodied VDL SB200 type number 405 - YJ59 AZA as it makes the right turn from Brinton Road to join Holt Road on the outskirts of Briston while working the above schoolday only service 607 journey. Having reached this point from Reepham by way of Wood Dalling, Thurning and numerous stops in Briston village including West End, the route to Holt continues via Hunworth. Similar service 609 also follows much of this route, but it does not serve Briston West End and terminates at Melton Constable. The road from Briston to Holt via Hunworth is regularly served by Sanders Monday to Saturday service 9 Fakenham - Sheringham.

The green signs we can see to both left and right direct travellers to the Stody Estate Farm & Estate Office. My original thought was that this was another new location, but in fact it was previously used to capture vehicle 312 working a service 9 Holt – Fakenham journey back on 31st August 2015, albeit from a different angle. The Easter Parade terminated outside my apartment block but as my windows face away from Bolton Street I was afraid that I might not be able to get any usable photographs of the parade but things did work out too bad even though members of the public did frequently block my view of the event.

Since Ireland joined the United Nations in 1955, the Army has been deployed on many peacekeeping missions. The first of these took place in 1958, when a small number of observers were sent to Lebanon. A total of 86 Irish soldiers have died in the service of the United Nations since 1960

As of 1 December 2015, 493 Defence Force personnel are serving in 12 different missions throughout the world including Lebanon (UNIFIL), Syria (UNDOF), Middle East (UNTSO), Kosovo (KFOR), German-led Battle Group 2016 and other observer and staff appointments to UN, EU, OSCE and PfP posts. The largest deployments include:

Lebanon (UNIFIL) 51 Infantry Group, Syria (UNDOF) 50 Infantry Group.

The Army has historically purchased and used weapons and equipment from other western countries, mainly from European nations. Ireland has a very limited arms industry and rarely produces its own armaments.

From its establishment the Army used the British-made Lee–Enfield .303 rifle, which would be the mainstay for many decades. In the 1960s some modernisation came with the introduction of the Belgian-made FN FAL 7.62 mm assault rifle. Since 1989 the service rifle for the Army is the Austrian-made Steyr AUG 5.56 mm assault rifle (used by all branches of the Defence Forces).

Other weapons in use by the Army include the USP 9mm pistol, FN MAG machine gun, M2 Browning machine gun, Accuracy International Arctic Warfare sniper rifles, AT4 SRAAW, FGM-148 Javelin Anti-tank guided missile, L118 105mm Howitzer, RBS 70 Surface to Air Missile system.

The Army has purchased 80 Swiss made Mowag Piranha Armoured personnel carriers which have become the Army's primary vehicle in the Mechanised infantry role. These are equipped with 12.7 mm HMGs, or the Oto Melara 30 mm Autocannon. The army also has 27 RG Outrider light tactical armoured vehicles. The Army has no tanks, but does have a variant of the FV101 Scorpion light armoured reconnaissance vehicle, with a 76.2 mm main gun.

Robber Fly

Laurel, NY

This may be the first time I came across a robber fly and actually knew that it was a robber fly. I'm assuming if I did see one of these in prior years I wouldn't have put much thought into it.

This was actually a very difficult shot to get because the fly was a bit high up, so I was shooting wildly in Live View mode holding the camera well over my head. The problem with Live View though is that you have to take one shot at a time, vs High Speed Shutter release which, to me at least, I use way more for macro work than anything else. Luckily it was early morning and the fly wasn't yet energized enough to fly away from the paparazzi.

The pads on their feet I find quite interesting...perhaps an entomologist can enlighten us as to what they do?

This is a close up of a Terminator head, cast from the original movie prop. It was photographed in a low light situation to catch the beautiful reflections and warm colours.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 31.566+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Three metres, at 11:25am on Tuesday June 4th 2019, on a an overcast and drizzle filled morning off Birdcage Walk and Horse Guards Road in the grounds of St James's Park. Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

Here we see an adult female Mute swan (Cygnus olor), resting with no less than seven cygnets on the lake border within the park. Females are identified by the smaller black 'knob' above the beak but are the same size often as the males. Breeding pairs often produce up to eight cygnets, though predation by other birds and larger fish often sees the final number of successfully reared cygnets to two or three.

Grantham Station

Very rarely used by LNER services, Azuma 801207 is stood at Platform 4. It had arrived from Newcastle, a bus replacement being used to continue the journey due to engineering work. It left later as 5Y74 to Neville Hill. To the left is Azuma 801108 with 1D06 Grantham to Leeds.

I had an appointment downtown, and arriving a bit early (I'd allowed time for traffic) I grabbed the chance to relax with a spot of photography. It wasn't as relaxing as I'd hoped, as a security guard came out and told me that I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the building without written permission. When I went into the bulding to inquire how I could get that permission, the officers on duty told that I had every right to take pictures outside. From their expressions when I told them about the security guard, I suspect I'm not the first photographer who's been handed a line.

According to the official web site:

Osgoode Hall is a heritage building located at 130 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario. This historic site is the focus

for legal activity in Ontario and has garnered attention for over 170 years. Osgoode Hall occupies six acres and was acquired by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1829. The name Osgoode Hall honours William Osgoode the first Chief Justice of the province. Osgoode Hall withstood more than ten major restorations. The front facade maintained its originality and is basically unaltered to reflect the 1860 design.

The interior of Osgoode Hall possesses unique architectural achievements. The heritage courtrooms are from the late 1800's. Convocation Hall boasts ten gorgeous stained glass heraldic windows covering 4,000 years of law. The Great Library touted as the most beautiful room in Canada has an intricate ceiling, cork floors and triple cube design. The rotunda is spectacular from the original tiling on the floor to the elegant arched pillars surrounded by elaborate oil paintings of former Chief Justices of the Province.

Since 1840 Osgoode Hall has been co-owned by the Ontario Government and the Law Society. The Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Superior Court Of Justice and the Law Society of Upper Canada currently reside at Osgoode Hall.

According to Wikipedia:

Osgoode Hall is a landmark building in downtown Toronto constructed between 1829 and 1832 in the late Georgian Palladian and Neoclassical styles. It houses the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Divisional Court of the Superior Court of Justice, and the Law Society of Upper Canada. The portico of Osgoode Hall's east wing was built at the head of Toronto's York Street to serve as a terminating vista, though it is now obscured by trees planted on the building's lawn.

Osgoode Hall was named in honour of the province's first chief justice, William Osgoode.[1] The building housed Osgoode Hall Law School until 1969 when the faculty was relocated to the campus of York University in the North York community of Toronto. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1979.[2][3] It was also designated by the City of Toronto under the Ontario Heritage Act in 1990.

The six-acre (24,000 m²) site at the corner of Lot Street (Queen Street West today) and College Avenue (University Avenue today) was acquired by the Law Society in 1828. At the time, the location was on the northwest edge of the city, which has since grown around the building. It was originally bounded on its north side by Osgoode Street, and on its east side by a street that would eventually be known as Chestnut Street. The former no longer exists, and the latter now stops at Armoury Street as Nathan Philips Square now lies to the east. The original 2 1⁄2-storey building was started in 1829 and finished in 1832 from a design by John Ewart and W. W. Baldwin. The structure was named after William Osgoode, the first Chief Justice of Upper Canada (what is now the Canadian province of Ontario).

Between 1838 and 1843, the hall was turned into troop barracks.[5] When the Law Society regained possession in 1844, an expansion was designed by Henry Bowyer Lane; the West Wing and Library were built, with two domes (later removed) over the library to connect the two wings.[5] In 1846 the Law Society entered into an agreement with the government to house the province's Superior Court at the hall.[citation needed] Today, the building is jointly owned by the Law Society and the Government of Ontario.

From 1855 to 1857 the building was refurbished and enlarged again, according to a design by the firm Cumberland and Storm, to accommodate courts with the original 1829 building becoming the east wing. From 1880 to 1891 the building was again expanded twice in order to accommodate the law school.

Despite the expansions, the hall presents a unified design in the late Palladian style. The iron fence surrounding the lawns of Osgoode Hall has become a landmark in itself. Its distinctive iron gates are narrow and restrictive; it is a long-standing myth that they were designed to keep livestock out of the grounds of the hall and in the 1950s, students did attempt to pass a cow through one of the gates (they failed). The gates were likely due to Victorian architectural fashion, rather than wandering cattle.

Two libraries are housed within Osgoode Hall: the Great Library of the Law Society of Upper Canada and a smaller library for judges. The Great Library was designed by Cumberland and Storm (1857–1860) and features an ornate plaster ceiling, cork floors, and etched glass windows. A War Memorial by Frances Norma Loring (1887–1968), sculpted in 1928, was added to the Library in honor of Ontario lawyers and law students killed during the First World War. Behind the Great Library (and accessible through it) is the American Room, designed by Burke and Horwood in 1895, a more intimate room with a spiral staircase. The courthouse at 361 University Avenue directly to the north is accessible through a connecting tunnel.

This High Dynamic Range 360° panorama was stitched from 54 RAW photographs with PTGUI Pro, tone-mapped with Photomatix, and touched up in Aperture.

It's not as sharp as I'd like, as when I went inside to inquire about permission I accidentally changed my aperture, and didn't notice when I went pack out to photograph. The sky is also a bit off — adjusting the white balance so the shadows weren't blue made the sky greenish, and I can't figure out a way to adjuste the colour all the way back.
