One year ago today, I got off a plane in Spokane, Washington and began the train nerd trip of a lifetime. We hit Spokane, Sand Point, Missoula and the BNSF Hi-Line during an action packed week fueled by coffee, country music, resilience and whiskey. To be successful requires a lot from the photographer, but also a lot from the railroad, and mother nature. One of the absolute highlights for me remains this shot, eastbound along the flathead, at Perma. The rugged mountain terrain was in full display as Montana Rail Links Day Gas rolled east along the flathead. What we didn't know then is that MRLs lease with BNSF would be terminated early, and sooner rather than later MRL would be a distant memory. Montana is still on my mind, all these months later, and I fully plan on returning to the glory of the American west in the very near future.

A product of exquisite mastery of studio lighting.
Or.
A happy accident.
Your choice :)
This sort of thing is a bit of a select taste, but it appeals to my chromatic minimalism neural tingly-bits...
Besides, I rather like the diffraction rainbows on the arc edges too. We just have to share the delight in those don't we?
For the Crazy Tuesday Red theme.
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Crazy Tuesday!!

Briksdalsbreen glacier terminates in Briksdalsbrevatnet, a small lake which lies 346 metres above sea level. The size of Briksdalsbreen depends not only on temperature, but is also strongly affected by precipitation. Measurements since 1900 show small advances of the glacier front in the first decades. In the period from 1934 to 1951 the glacier receded by 800 metres, exposing the glacial lake. In the period from 1967 until 1997 the glacier expanded by 465 metres and covered the whole lake, with the glacier front ending at the lake outlet. After the year 2000, the glacier once again receded. In 2004 it had receded to 230 metres behind the lake outlet and in 2007 the glacier front was on dry land. As Briksdalsbreen has become very narrow at some stretches, it is possible that it will disconnect from the larger Jostedalsbreen glacier in the near future. Sogn and Fjordane county, Norway. In August I made a short trip to Czech republic for my birthday, mostly in Prague with some friends but with two railfan days tacked on at the end. In hindsight it was a mistake as I should have used the days for more Switzerland, but live and don't learn. I was in Jindřichův Hradec to ride the NG but was surprised to find that the standard gauge was quite interesting too. Here a local arrives at Jindřichův Hradec station where the train will terminate.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.
On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.
These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, and having moved from professional Nikon equipment to consumer bodies and lenses, I travel light less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 22.893+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

**** This frame was chosen on August 7th 2018 to appear on FLICKR EXPLORE (Highest Ranking: #80. This is my 103rd photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.
Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. That's only one image in every 17,000!..... so I am really thrilled to have a frame picked and most grateful to every one of the 17.950 Million people who have visited, favourite and commented on this and all of my other photographs here on my FLICKR site. *****

Another update. I'm pretty happy with this one as I managed to figure out a proper connection to attach the windscreen and the rest of the bike is way more stable now :D
All Lego except the shades, which are a sticker and the tube in the front wheel is cut since it's 2L and I needed stability.
Inspired by Project Azazel's bikes (thanks for the advice too bud!)
