What if I described seagull identification as "The Terminating Angel"?

The phrasing is reminiscent of surrealist art and film, like Luis Buñuel's 1962 film 'The Exterminating Angel'. In the film, a group of people at a dinner party are inexplicably unable to leave, and the "exterminating angel" is a METAPHOR for the forces that expose the baser human instincts of the trapped aristocrats.

In this vein, the "terminating angel" for seagull identification could suggest the end of a familiar illusion - the process of definitive gull ID could represent the point at which a casual observer's simple understanding of "SEAGULL" is broken down and replaced with a more complex, specific reality (e.g., this isn't just a seagull, it's a Western Gull, and here are its unique characteristics). Or it could personify the identification process itself as a higher power that, with a final, terminal flourish, brings an end to all uncertainty about the bird's identity.

In some cultures, a seagull symbolizes the transition between LIFE and DEATH. In this view the act of identification could be interpreted as moving from a state of not knowing to a state of definitive knowledge, the end of one state and the birth of another.

It's so true then, as Rainer Maria Rilke once wrote...every angel is terrifying.

My 3rd Stagecoach Devon ADL Enviro 400 with "Go 2" branding for Newton Abbot-Exeter service. This is MX07HMF an ex-Manchester bus. These do not carry so much route branding, have advertising but do carry a place scene on the route. On this bus it is "Cockwood" and shows one of the alternate journeys which terminate at Teignmouth rather than Newton Abbot.

Sorry it took so long to get pics done of this guy, It took me longer to get his alternate heads repainted and ready to go.

This figure is amazing, I'm so glad to finally have both versions of the original Terminator.

Designed for Build Better Bricks, this 13" figurine packs in tons of greebly detail!

GB Railfreight recently aquired Class 47 No. 47727 in Caledonian Sleeper Livery is seen here at Burrfields Bridge, Hilsea, working Pathfinder Railtour 1Z55 1638 Littlehampton to Fratton. Originally meaning to terminate at Portsmouth Harbour it had to cut its journey short and terminate at Fratton due to a broken down train in Harbour meant there was no platform availability. The train then worked 1Z56 to Cardiff Central with 66741 leading as far as Bristol Temple Meads.

Photographed from mid-town Toronto, Canada, at 05.00 (Nov. 17 photo) & 04.00 EST (Nov. 18 photo)

These mornings the waning gibbous Moon has been riding high in the sky above Toronto, while we have had a string of surprisingly clear skies and warm weather.

This collage shows how much the terminator (the line between the illuminated and the dark portions of the Moon; also called the sunset line) moves across the lunar disk in a one day (actually, a 23-hour) period.

Another update. I'm pretty happy with this one as I managed to figure out a proper connection to attach the windscreen and the rest of the bike is way more stable now :D

All Lego except the shades, which are a sticker and the tube in the front wheel is cut since it's 2L and I needed stability.

Inspired by Project Azazel's bikes (thanks for the advice too bud!)
