The village of Sennen Cove overlooks the southern end of Whitesand Bay. There is not a cove in the usual geological sense. The village (as distinct from Sennen Churchtown), is on a spur road which joins the A30 trunk road about two miles (3 km) from Land's End. Thus it is the first village from Land's End along the north coast. The road descends gently for about 300 yards and then steeply for another 300 yards to the village which lies above the beach. The beach extends further north along Whitesand Bay. There are a few dozen houses built primarily of granite and some of concrete, arranged mainly in terraces, typical of many of the villages in Cornwall. Several submarine telecommunications cables reach land at Sennen Cove and are connected via landlines to the cable terminating equipment at Skewjack together with others from Porthcurno.
Stealthy male Sharp-shinned Hawk hunting my feeder. Judging from the feather fragments tangled in his right talon and lump in his craw, it looks like he's enjoyed some success.
Rare winter visitor. Uncommon during the rest of the year. Smallest hawk. Most often seen during the fall season's southern migration.

37116 with 37610 arrive at Hatfield & Stainforth with 1Q60 0852 Derby RTC to Barlby Loops. Doing its best to bowl us was 158906 working 2C60 1150 Hull - Doncaster. The equipment on board the test train was defective at this point so the train terminated here and ran back to Derby RTC as 1Z60. 9th January 2023.

The Golden Handle is a visual effect at the lunar terminator. and is visible once within a month for several hours.
About 10 days after new moon the valley of the rainbow bay (Sinus Iridum) is still in shadow, while the mountain peaks of the adjacent Montes Jura are already reached by sunlight due to their height of up to 2700 meters. Because of its concise shape, reminiscent of a handle, and the yellowish light reflected from the moon, this formation received the name "Golden Handle".

Wegen ihrer prägnanten, an einen Henkel erinnernden Form und dem vom Mond gelblich reflektierten Licht erhielt diese Formation den Namen „Goldener Henkel“.
