Adam was born to a multi-talented beauty queen Mother and a Father who, in addition to being a US Army Spy and a Counter-Intelligence Special Agent, was also a highly accomplished entrepreneur. Adam was taught at a young age that, in both life and business, loyalty is a requirement for success. He’s had the honor of working directly with his father in several of the family businesses. Norwegian actress and dancer Lillebil Ibsen (1899-1989) started her career as a young talented dancer and later became one of Norway's most distinguished stage actresses ever. As Lillebil Christensen, she acted in a few European silent films by major directors.
Lillebil Ibsen was born Sofie Parelius Monrad Krohn in 1899 in Öre Aker (Christiania, now Oslo), Norway. She was the daughter of engineer Georg Monrad Krohn and actress Gyda Andersen (Gyda Monrad Krohn). Later on, her mother married Halfdan Christensen, the managing director of Nationaltheatret in Oslo, the national theatre stage in Norway. Lillebil received ballet training from her mother, who was a professional choreographer and ballet instructor. At the age of ten, she made her debut as a dancer at Nationaltheatret in the ballet pantomime 'Prinsessen på erten' (1911), directed by her mother. It was an adaptation of the fairytale 'The Princess and the Pea' by Hans Christian Andersen. Over the next few years, ‘Madame Lillebil’ had an adventurous career abroad. She studied ballet with Hans Beck in Copenhagen, and later with Russian choreographer Mikhail Fokine in Paris. In 1912, she went on a music tour to Berlin with her mother and conductor Johan Halvorsen. Later, she would also dance to Halvorsen's 'Danse visionaire', in 'Krokodilletaarer' (1914) and 'Dukken' (1915), the Norwegian version of 'Coppélia' by Léo Delibes. Her sensitive and dramatic dancing made her famous far beyond Norway. She made her debut as a stage actress in 'Den uskikkelige Lille princesses' (The Naughty Little Princess). When she was sixteen years old, German stage director Max Reinhardt engaged her as prima ballerina ‘Lillebil Christensen’ for the theatres he managed. From 1915 to 1918, Lillebil played leading roles in Reinhardt's pantomimes 'Die Schäferin', 'Lillebils Hochzeitsreise', 'Prima Ballerina', 'Sumurun' and 'Die grüne Flöte' (The Green Flute). In Berlin, Lillebil Christensen made her film debut with a supporting role in E. A. Dupont's crime story Europa postlagernd/Europe Mail Storage (Ewald André Dupont, 1918) starring Max Landa and Lu Synd. In 1919, she married writer-director Tancred Ibsen, the grandson of both Henrik Ibsen and Nobel laureate Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. The young couple travelled through Europe. Lillebil played one of the two leading female roles in the Swedish film drama Sången om den eldröda blomman/Song of the Scarlet Flower (Mauritz Stiller, 1919), with Lars Hanson. It was a huge success. A year later, the Danish director Urban Gad brought her back to Berlin to play the central role of Paris dancer Eva Sorel alongside Conrad Veidt and Fritz Kortner in the two-part film Christian Wahnschaffe (Urban Gad, 1920-1921). She also appeared in the Norwegian film Pan (Harald Schwenzen, 1922) with Gerd Egede Nissen, based on a novel by Knut Hamsun. In 1921, her son Tancred was born and in 1923, the family settled permanently in Norway. She was engaged by the Centralteatret, first for the pantomime 'Scaramouche' (1923) with music by Jean Sibelius, then for the play 'Kameliadamen', a production of Alexandre Dumas fils' 'The Lady of the Camellias', and a year later Ibsen appeared in the revue theatre Chat Noir. Her songs, dances and parodies became very popular and she gave guest performances in London, Paris, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
From 1928 to 1956, Lillebil Ibsen was a member of the ensemble at Oslo's Det Nye Teater (The New Theatre). She played classical comedy roles as well as a series of Ibsen characters, such as Nora in 'Nora or A Doll's House' or Mrs Alving in 'Ghosts'. She became one of Norway's most distinguished stage actresses ever. In 1931, Tancred Ibsen directed Norway's first feature-length sound film, the comedy Den store barnedåpen/The Great Christening (Tancred Ibsen, 1931). Lillebil did not appear in this film but she starred in her husband's experimental comedy Op med hodet/Cheer Up! (Tancred Ibsen, 1934). The title of the film is a reference to the opening line of a poem in Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson's novel 'En glad Gut' (A Happy Boy). She also appeared in the Swedish melodrama Lika inför lagen (Gustaf Bergman, 1931) with Karin Swanström and Unno Hennbing. It was an alternative language version of the Paramount production Manslaughter (George Abbott, 1930) and was filmed as Les Studios Paramount in Joinville-le-Pont, France. Through the 1930s. Tancred Ibsen would 'dominate the Norwegian film industry. During the Occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, Tancred was arrested in 1943. He was imprisoned in Schildberg and then Luckenwalde until the camp was liberated. Lillebil and Tancred Christensen co-directed the film Et spøkelse forelsker seg/A ghost falls in love (1946) starring Per Aabel. She also acted in a few more films, including the Swedish mystery Mannekäng i rött/Mannequin in Red (Arne Mattsson, 1958) with Anita Björk, where she played a notable supporting role as a fashion house mogul. This popular film is part of the Hillman-thriller series, directed by Arne Mattsson and written by Folke Mellvig. The cult series contains five mysteries with the name of a colour in the title. In 1979, she reunited with director Mattson for her final film, Somewhere, Sometime
(Arne Mattson, 1979). From 1956 to 1969, Lillebil was a permanent member of Oslo's Nationaltheatret. She appeared in many classic plays by G.B. Shaw, Moliére, Henrik Ibsen and William Shakespeare. She enjoyed particular success in Friedrich Dürrenmatt's revenge drama 'Der Besuch der alten Dame' (The Visit of the Old Lady, 1957) and Edward Albee's 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' (1964). She also successfully played the part of Abby Brewster in Joseph Kesselring's comedy 'Arsenic and Old Lace' (1968). In 1961, she received a Critics' Award for her role as Mrs Patrick Campbell in Jerome Kilty's two-person play 'Dear Liar' with Per Aabel. She played 'Mrs. Pat' more than 300 times in Norway and neighbouring countries since its premiere in 1961, both on stage and in radio and television theatre versions. She published her autobiography 'Det begynte med dansen' (It began with the dance) in 1961. Ibsen was decorated Commander of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 1969. When Ibsen celebrated his seventieth anniversary as a performing artist in 1981, she once again played Mrs Pat in 'Dear Liar'. In 1983, she received the Karl Gerhards Hederspris, a Scandinavian art award. Lillebil Ibsen died in Oslo in 1989 aged 90. She was married to Tancred Ibsen from 1919 till his death in 1978. Their son Tancred Ibsen Jr. (1921-2015), was a Norwegian diplomat. Tancred and Lillebil Ibsen are buried at Vår Frelsers gravlund, Oslo.

Although the weekend is designed to give participants the opportunity to perform and take master dance classes, Project Dance also strives to inspire dancers as artists and individuals. Some of the activities over the weekend focus on the intersection of faith and art.
Project dance is not a convention or competition but rather a life changing experience for dancers who desire to PERFORM WITH INTEGRITY TO INSPIRE. Our goal is to equip and encourage dancers as they seek their calling in the world of dance.

Pierre Mingand (1900-1982) was a talented French actor who could also tap dance, play the piano and sing. He started his career as an athletic dancer in the circus. Later he often appeared together with Danielle Darrieux, both on stage and in a series of films.
Pierre Mingand was born Joseph-Yves-Pierre Magnin in 1900 in Besançon in the east of France. He was the son of Achille and Hélène Magnin. Graduated in commercial sciences, he studied singing and mime. In 1926 the young Pierre Mingand performed in the Circus Molier, founded in 1880 by Ernest Molier. In 1927, he performed at the Cirque de Paris in a duet with Maxime Vaz in an athletic dance number. Later he was part of Ray Ventura's orchestra as a singer and pianist. He also sang and recorded duets with Danielle Darrieux, with whom he was befriended. They made several films together: the Policier Mauvaise Graine/Bad Seed (Billy Wilder – his debut as a director, Alexander Esway, 1934), Mademoiselle Mozart/Miss Mozart (Yvan Noé, 1935), Abus de confiance/Abuse of trust (Henri Decoin, 1937) with Charles Vanel, and Retour à l'aube/Back to dawn (Henri Decoin, 1938) with Pierre Dux. Mingand had started his film career as Johann Strauss in La Guerre des valses/The Waltz Wars (Ludwig Berger, Raoul Ploquin, 1933), with Fernand Gravey and Arletty. La Guerre des valses was the alternative language version of the Ufa production Walzerkrieg (Ludwig Berger, 1933) with Willy Fritsch. He also had a small part in Sacha Guitry’s Remontons les Champs-Élysées/Champs-Elysees (Sacha Guitry, 1938).
During the war, Pierre Mingand appeared in the film musical Mademoiselle Swing/Miss Swing (Richard Pottier, 1942), with Irène de Trébert and Jean Murat. During filming Coup de tête (René Le Hénaff, 1944) with André Alerme and Josseline Gaël, Mingand had an accident during a fight scene. He was seriously injured when a part of the set collapsed and fell on top of him. He was immobilised for months and this accident nearly ended his career. His final film was the comedy Le voleur se porte bien/The thief is doing well (Jean Loubignac, 1948). Mingand also worked in the music hall where he was very successful too. Well known was his song song Rien dans les Mains, rien dans les Poches (Nothing in your hands, nothing in your pockets) which was written in 1948 by Henri Betti and André Hornez. In 1935, after his success in the stage musical comedy Mademoiselle Mozart (Miss Mozart), he starred in the operetta Trente et Quarante (Thirty-eight) at the Bouffes-Parisiens with music by Werner Richard Heymann. His co-stars were Alice Cocéa and Pierre Brasseur. Many stage productions would follow. In the 1960s, when his acting career was over, he worked as a sales manager for the company Arago, a subsidiary of the electronics firm Radiohm in Montreuil. From 1933 till their divorce in 1941, he was married to Irène Montanet. In 1964, he married Marguerite Magnin, born Marguerite Arandel. In 1982, Pierre Mingand died as a result of an epidemic at the Esquirol Clinic in Agen. He was buried in the family vault at the Chaprais cemetery in Besançon.

Throughout Harriet Backer's 50-year career, women's rights changed radically. Being a woman and an artist became accepted. Backer was talented and determined, inspiring a new generation of women and men in the Norwegian art world.
In Backer’s family, art and culture were part of how the children were raised. Her older sister Agathe was musically gifted and wanted to become a pianist. She had to go abroad to learn, and Harriet became her sister's traveling companion. This gave Harriet the opportunity to visit art museums and get to know the historical masters of the art world at a young age. Agathe eventually became a renowned composer and concert pianist, while Harriet became an important artist.
Backer showed an early talent and interest in art, but embarked on full-time studies rather late in life. In 1874, at 29 years, she decided to travel to Munich. The art community in Norway was small, so one had to go abroad.
The art academies in Europe were reserved for men in those days, but women could receive private tuition or attend "women's classes". During her years in Munich, Backer had several teachers. In 1878 she moved to Paris to continue her studies.
Being accepted for exhibition at the Salon in Paris was an important step on the path to becoming a professional artist. In 1880, Backer was accepted with the painting Solitude. Hundreds of artists exhibited at these exhibitions at the same time, and the paintings hung close together, from floor to ceiling. The jury thought Backer's painting was excellent, and she was honoured with a diploma, known as a Mention honorable.
In Munich, Backer learned to paint in a style characterised by a high level of detail and dark colours. We see this for example in Avskjeden (The Farewell), from 1878. When she came to Paris, she was greatly inspired by impressionism. In one of her best-known paintings, Blått interiør (Blue Interior), painted five years after Avskjeden, the transformation of her painting style is evident. Clear and pure colours dominate the composition. From this point on, the interaction between figure, interior and light effects became a theme that permeated Backer's paintings. How to create contrasts between the light indoors and outdoors? How are colours perceived in lamplight compared to daylight? She approached her subjects with these issues in mind.
Backer started her career with a desire to become a portrait painter. She painted many friends and acquaintances, and also received portrait commissions. But it is her interior scenes she has become best known for. She painted interiors from all walks of life – from farmhouses to bourgeois living rooms. For the most part, Backer's rooms are populated by women.

In 1888, Backer established herself in Norway, and from 1892 to 1910 ran a painting school in Kristiania. She became a popular teacher. Her openness to new ideas in both art and social development was appreciated. She sympathised with the women's movement, but did not actively participate in political work.
In the women's cause, Backer was recognised more for what she did than what she said – as a renowned artist she was an important role model. Together with friend and fellow artist Kitty Kielland, she was a pioneer who paved the way for women to have the opportunity to choose art as a career path.

On 11 June 2022 the new National Museum opened in Oslo. This is the largest museum in the Nordics. The new museum now consists of the collections of the former National Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Norwegian Museum of Decorative Arts and Design.
The new museum has a permanent exhibition of about 6 500 objects. Design, arts and crafts, fine art as well as contemporary art will be exhibited alongside each other. As such, the permanent exhibition highlights interesting connections between different collections that previously have been on show at three different museums. Additionally, audiences will be able to see the most famous paintings by the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch, including The Scream (1893) and Madonna (1894).
The building was designed by Kleihues + Schuwerk Gesellschaft von Architekten, with emphasis on dignity and longevity over sensationalist architecture. Great care was given to achieve a balance with the museum’s surroundings and the existing monuments in the area, such as Oslo City Hall and Akershus Fortress.
The most eye-catching feature of the new museum is the large, illuminated exhibition hall on top of the building. It will be used for temporary exhibitions.
The rooftop terrace offers a unique view of the inner Oslo fjord. The square in front of the main entrance has become an urban meeting place, with benches and a café that invites you in to take a rest.

I started This painting 1 or maybe 2 years ago...LOL
I was really disappointed when I did the first washes and I wanted to discard it.
It has been in my stack of "Things to work on" and finally,after a few weeks of inactivity...
I decided to give it a try...
I'm not a big fan of that kind of "sports" that involve ANIMAL CRUELTY.
But I have to admit that I find this subject really attractive to paint...

Talented herpetologist Dr Marieke Lettink, based in Christchuirch is easily the best in the business.
This is a Banks Peninsula Jewelled gecko, Naultinus gemmeus.
