Multi-talented girl. Herding waves, bouncing balls, killing seaweed, tracking.....
A little about Misty. She's a rescue--picked up on the streets of a Northwestern city, bedraggled and sick and more than a little skinny a few Januaries ago. She went to the pound where she got kennel cough, and then was rescued and nursed back to health by breed rescue (Australian Shepherd [ARPH--Aussie Rescue & Placement Helpline 1-877-ARPH-779]). She spent several months in rescue and was adopted out once and returned, because the people thought she was aggressive because she barked at bicycles. Not aggressive, just herding instinct. And perhaps a little time on the streets getting away with chasing things that moved. So finally Misty came to us, and it's been a long and fun journey (almost three years now--she's our "Earth Day Girl"). I can't even begin to tell you how fun she is. She loves everyone, has tons of personality, and is definitely one of the ruff and tumble fav's at our local dog club. Aussies aren't for everyone though, they're a commitment to a high-energy instinct driven velcro dog. Velcro--meaning they hang close to your side once they're bonded.

17.11.2012. In the spirit of celebrating the academic accomplishments of aspiring & hardworking students of HU, an “Honor Roll Ceremony” was held at 11 AM on Saturday, 17 November, 2012 at HU Euro Campus. The Honorable, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board, Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf presided the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Deans Honor Roll is a time-tested way to celebrate the achievements of young, talented and very hard-working students of HU.
Eighty-five (85) Meritorius Male & Female students from various disciplines, Pharmacy, Business, Fashion, Engineering, Computer Science, Media Studies, etc. were awarded the Certificate by the Honorable Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He expressed that he was delighted to see state of the art infrastructure of Hajvery University. He further went on to add that Hajvery University is doing an excellent job in promoting innovation & quality education in Pakistan, and advised that the University and Pakistan Cricket Board institutionalize linkages that support and strengthen Players Education in Cricket, Physio, Personal grooming, and modern education. He appreciated Mr. Atif Mushtaq, Chairman Board of Governors, Hajvery University (HU) for his dedication to the cause of providing cutting-edge education in Pakistan.
The Honorable Chief Guest reminded the Students some of the lessons he has learnt over the period of his very successful tenure as the Chairman, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd, noting that when he took the helm of affairs, the bank was in debt exceeding billions of rupees, whereas during his tenure, the bank recovered its losses and made a good profit. The President of Pakistan, in appreciation of his efforts in the radical transformation on the Zarai Taragiati Bank, has given him a new challenge, one which is also at the heart of Pakistan's 180 million people: Cricket. As the new Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he told the audience that he has taken a similar approach to changing Pakistan Cricket Board and the fate of domestic as well as international cricket in Pakistan, by strengthening the Domestic Cricket in all the districts of Pakistan, and maintain a strong liason with International Cricket Councils to revive the International Cricket in Pakistan.
Hajvery University (HU), Director, Office of Affairs & Planning Mr. Fahd Sheikh delivered an inspiring thank you speech to the Honor Roll Students, and the Chief Guest. He spoke about the wealth of opportunities which are waiting to be discovered by the students, through their preservation and hardwork. He emphasized that today's world needs Innovators, Big Thinkers, and smart people to overcome the challenges. He went on to add that, as students there are countless distractions in the form of entertainment, which de track students from their goals & aspirations, which is perhaps the biggest dilemma & challenge to overcome. He concluded his remarks with the following words from Dr. Allama Iqbal:
Tu shaheen hai parvwaaz hai kaam tera
Tere saamne aasmaan aur bhi hain
Isi roz-o-shab main ulajh kar na rah ja
Ke tere zameen par makaan aur bhi hain
The Honor Roll Ceremony Concluded with Mr. Atif Mushtaq, Chairman Hajvery University (HU), Board of Governors giving a token of appreciation to the honorable Ch. Zaka Ashraf for dedicating his time to encouraging the honor roll students of Hajvery University.
The DMPS Gifted and Talented staff welcomed elementary students in the program and their families to a strategic thinking games and puzzles night at Central Campus.

This is another shot of my awesome friend Zoonii doing circus on the UC Berkeley Campus. We went there on Saturday and took a bunch of pictures. She is a talented circus artist, and photographer. :) Hope you enjoy!

Decided to do something a little bit different..
I really liked the idea of doing things like this once on a while...
it is kind of fun,this is not something really special but it is good to keep the brushes and the paint a little wet...

Eamon Cale folds his hands behind his back. "Aye, 'tis a beaut." He's quiet for a moment. "Ye know, lass, that's actually damned fine. You're talented with that. I knew ye had an artistic bent, but didn't know ye did all that." He nods up the street, in the general direction of the Art Society. "Did ye think to enter that contest, then."
Guinevere Fouroux blushes a little--or maybe it's just the crisp wind--and she twirls her flamingo around idly. "I did, actually." She glances at the poster. "I didn't tell anyone. I've only just started drawing again and if it's terrible, I didn't want to embarrass myself."
Eamon Cale looks at her thoughtfully. "What made ye stop for so long?" he asks. He pauses for a moment, then shakes his head. "I've known ye how many years, Guin-lass, and I can't think that I've ever seen ye draw anything. So 'twasn't coming to Midian that did it. For that matter..." He smiles, all warm humor and black greasepaint. "What made ye start again?"
Guinevere Fouroux returns his smile, shaking her head in amusement at the paint. It was nice to see him loosen up sometimes. "I've always done it, to one degree or another, but I just was too shy, I guess, to show anyone. Just because I like it doesn't mean I'm good at it." She laughs quietly as they walk down the street. "I stopped for a while after college. I'm not sure why. But I started again after... " She takes a deep breath. Easier, but never easy. "I was full of energy, emotions, and no outlet. I thought it might help."
Eamon Cale's expression gentles a little, although it might be hard to see. "But ye entered the contest," he says quietly, still smiling as he watches her face. "So ye overcame some of that shyness, 'twould seem." His eyes narrow slightly, speculative. "Why are ye so quick to think you're no good, though?"
Guinevere Fouroux twists her lips, quiet for a moment. "I don't know, actually," she says, with a short laugh. "I guess it just seemed like a private thing, and I was never big on contests or being judged. I almost showed you a couple of times, but always chickened out." She glances up the street, very aware of how they looked, but not minding. She had her flamingo. "And believe me, I debated up to the last second, entering what I did. But.. " She looks up at him, as they walk. "I was inspired, I suppose. I'm trying to... I don't know. Figure out who I am."
Eamon Cale smiles. "Ye should have shown me." He's quiet for a moment, and he follows her glance up the street. His smile twists a little--between her blonde wig and his own make-up, he doubts anyone would recognize them anyway. Which was, he admits to himself, a bit grand. His collar usually ensured he'd never be anonymous, and occasionally it was fine to be just Eamon, if only for awhile. "Figure out who ye are," he says softly. He looks at her profile. "Soul-searching? Or rebellion?"
Guinevere Fouroux falls quiet, bumping her flamingo against her leg as they walk. "Both, maybe?" she confesses quietly. "Everyone assumes they know all of who I am, just because of the church. But I'm more than the Church Girl, and I want to prove it. I just don't know who that is."

Yet another wonderful evening with the talented and lovely Anna Nalick.
As much as I see her on a regular basis at home in Los Angeles, and I've seen her twice in New York City too (including just a month prior), I couldn't get enough of her, so I decided to tack on a San Francisco Bay Area show.
This show, the first since Anna's Fall 2014 East Coast and Midwest tour (for which I had attended one of the New York City shows), is Anna's second-to-last scheduled for 2014; her very last show of 2014 takes place three days later, coming home to Los Angeles.
Anna is my bicoastal muse, and truly the soundtrack to my travels of 2014.
Performing a new number, "Hazy Love," inspired by old Broadway standards. These jazz hands are a key moment from the song; Anna likes to quip that "inside me, there is a gay man waiting to come out." This song brings out my inner gay man too!

Illuminated deer (La Biche) created by talented French artist Cedric Le Borgne using delicately sculpted chicken wire “grazes” on the lawn near Tsaritsyno Palace with background of light sphere projector. The unique light sculptures created some special atmosphere to this site catching the viewers’ fancy during the one of the most prominent festivals in Moscow, the Circle of Light.

I love Zoonii! Anyways, this is Zoonii (just in case you didn't get that). On Saturday we went to the UC Berkeley Campus and took circus photos. This is one of the three gorgeous ones that I captured of her. She is a talented circus artist, among many other things. :) Hope you enjoy!
The DMPS Gifted and Advanced Learning Program (GALP) held a week long summer intensive program with workshops ranging from dance to creative writing to infusing math with magic at Central Campus.

Me and my particularly talented friend Cat (of Catillest) have decided to try and get involved in all the interesting art stuff that’s happening in Croydon. So, we’ve started documenting the activity around the newly formed ‘Arts Quarter’ - which is right in the middle of things, just off of the high street and the clocktower. As far as I know, the Arts Quarter is the brainchild of Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison. Kevin’s the creator-curator of the RISE Gallery - which can be found in St. George’s Walk. If you're looking for it, you can't miss it.
There have apparently been over 120 paintings so far, and these are going to be rotated (i'm not sure how often). The whole thing was started off by a takeover from Ayaan Bulale's Femme Fierce. Femme Fierce is made up of about 35 artists - they actually broke a Guinness record for 'the largest spray paint mural created by a team'. They did this to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Care. And ain't that somethin'?
The Arts Quarter project faced an initial hurdle in the form of three (?) blokes who kept tagging over all the art. Kevin and said guys have apparently come to an understanding now, and I guess everybody's hoping that things are gonna stay… unedited. I'm not a street artist but the idea of respecting the work of your fellow spray painters and hip hop artisans seems like a…kinda fundamental thing.
Asides from Femme Fierce, other artists who've taken include Eska & Morgazmik, Decolife, Dan Kitchener, Artista, Mr Cenz and Gnasher. A lot of people are making comparisons to East London - Shoreditch, Hackney Wick etc. - I'd beg to differ, no comparisons are needed. Croydon's always had a strong scene, all of its own: shitloads of graffiti (usually not of the …sanctioned kind) plus the kind of atmosphere and urban culture that you can only develop in a concrete wasteland (OK, so it's not ALL wasteland). And dubstep was invented here - I saw that with my own eyes!
