My inspiration for this assignment came from a talented photographer that goes by Edward Weston. Edward was a photographer located in California in the 1900s and was known for having his subject matter as natural forms that move away from industrial settings to organic shapes. When I first came across Edward Weston, I was surprised by how much I liked his work because I usually enjoy all the photographer's work that we have learned about so far. Still, he was on another level of quality, in my opinion. It was something about how his whole ideology behind photography and how he created his work immediately caught my attention. Now my thought process going into this assignment was to follow the modernism techniques. In order to follow this technique, I had to take a close-up picture of the object, so in my case, a banana. In this photo, I also tried to capture the beauty of the banana by using Weston's techniques. In this case, I chose to have a dark background with a natural source of lighting while taking the banana to be the centerpiece of the project, leaving the picture to have no context, just how Weston would have done.

Street mime in old quarter of Innsbruck, Austria. Although talented at what she does, this mime gave me the creeps with her cold, machine-like stare.
We have heard this incredibly talented group of musicians from Buffalo a number of other times. They played every kind of music you can think of for an hour and a half non-stop, except for a few great stories.
This one number, sung here by another group, was my favorite of the songs they did.
Here is a taster from one of my comic book pages. This comic strip and other stories from some really talented friends of mine will be put up in a website soon. The name of the comic book is "Hot Dust" comics. SO yeah more work sooon!

A fellow draftee, talented artist with charcoal or pencil. A World-Class smile. Good chess player. We shipped over in the same group, were assigned to different units. Met up again at the hospital. His dogtag slowed down a grenade frag headed for his chest. I was in for a grenade frag too -one headed for my butt that managed to miss my wallet.
Beautiful batik quilt made by a customer - free-motion domestic machine quilted by me in Dec 2013
"Great minds think alike" -- I quilted this without knowing the pattern name or seeing any prior examples. I just noticed that an idol of mine has done this pattern and we used similar motifs coincidentally :D
So cool to be on the same wavelength as such a talented quilter!

The talented Hammond organ player from Ticino, Frank Salis, and one of the most interesting key figures of the New Orleans nouvelle vague, trombonist and singer Michael Watson, first met last year at JazzAscona where they collaborated on a special project, presenting New Orleans R&B classics alongside various unreleased songs written by Salis, talented composer, and Watson. In the fall of 2017, the two met again in New Orleans to record those new compositions. The result: Frank Salis meets Michael Watson, a vibrant declaration of love for soul and jazz. The album will be presented for the first time in Europe at JazzAscona.

I was tagged by the charming and talented montreal_bunny to list eight quirky things about me. Being innately quirky I have a very difficult time discerning what amounts to quirkiness, so I shall just list some of my traits that perhaps someone in a fit of unquirkiness might consider, well, quirky. Not for me to judge!
1. I have no sense of attachment to a place or living space. A genetically programmed nomad. I am attached to people though, which means I'd want to drag them with me around the planet.
2. I am a junkie for innovation, which is to say that I'll happily leave a task unfinished if some new and interesting endeavour comes along. Any surface around me reveals this in the form of stratified and forgotten paperwork dating back several years at the bottom layer.
3. I relish the solitude of a remote ocean or a forsaken corner of tundra, yet I am magnetically drawn to any crowd or big city just for the sheer energy of it.
4. I am addicted to cornmeal, as in the Italian dish called polenta. Given the chance I would eat a ton of it. I could take the stuff intravenously if it did not clog the needle.
5. I did not go out to sea on any vessel larger than a rowboat (and then only a few times) until I was about eighteen, yet I am remarkably impervious to sea sickness and I love being out on big seas.
6. I have a terrible sense of direction. And I have a private pilot's licence.
7. I am compulsively averse to using the entertainment system on an airliner, yet I always find myself watching a film on some other passenger's screen across an aisle, without the benefit of audio.
8. I have serious problems following rules. For example, in this post I am not tagging eight other people like I am supposed to do. ;-)
