A view west towards the operations office. (Orientation: This is in the basement of Carnegie Hall. The computer room was about a quarter of the floor, the whole north side of the basement.)
The 11/70 is in the foreground, the terminal to the right is the LA36 DecWriter that was the '70's console device. Behind that is the TU80 tape drive (with a tape wrap cover hanging off the front), and the decommissioned RP04. Behind that was the data switch, a primitive network device that is akin to the modern KVM switch. Behind the switch is the HP system that replaced the '70'. The big obolisk behind the 11/70 is the Liebert power conditioner and behind that, with the white rack faces, CLICNet. The CLICNet terminals are along the west wall.
System of a down - 2 June 2011
As usual, some very bad photos from the concert of the System of a Down, the 2nd of June 2011. I wasn't in a good position, I'm more shorter then other people in front of me and especially I'm not a photographer (and my Multiple Sclerosis allow me to walk and stand up for concerts, but not keep my arms all over others heads without shaking :D) But I can say that I'm really satisfied, because of seeing them Live and because some photos are not so bad.
Yep, I know, there are a lot of hands, but as I've said...I'm short :P
I find it kinda silly that systems like these have to be babied. Here you see it in operation from 8am to 9pm only.
The center column can be adjusted to meet the ground. Most systems do not have this. It makes the stand able to hold higher weights.
Ten students from Maple Leaf Educational Systems (MLES) in China, who began studies at Langara this term, were recognized today (November 10) for receiving awards established through a $50,000 scholarship fund set up by the College in collaboration with the Government of British Columbia. The scholarships were created as part of a provincial mission to China in April this year by BC’s Ministries of Advanced Education and International Trade, with a goal of highlighting the BC education sector and pathways within the system that support student mobility. Langara’s President and CEO Dr. Lane Trotter joined the mission and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MLES Founder and Chairman Dr. Sherman Jen that streamlines how Maple Leaf graduates can seamlessly be admitted into university studies at Langara upon completion of their BC Grade 12 curriculum. Dr. Trotter and Dr. Jen attended today's event to congratulate the scholarship recipients and present them with certificates honouring their achievements.
