U.S. Navy divers prepare to attach the "front porch" to a test version of the Orion capsule on Nov. 1, 2018, as part of Underway Recovery Test-7 (URT-7) in the open water of the Pacific Ocean. Nearby is the USS John P. Murtha. Orion will be towed into the ship's well deck. There are two large, orange mockup uprighting bags in this view, but when Orion actually splashes down there will be five. URT-7 is one in a series of tests that the Exploration Ground Systems Recovery Team, along with the U.S. Navy, are conducting to verify and validate procedures and hardware that will be used to recover the Orion spacecraft after it splashes down in the Pacific Ocean following deep space exploration missions. Orion will have emergency abort capability, sustain the crew during space travel and provide safe re-entry from deep space return velocities.
Used both of my cameras and a bunch of shots to try and get a cool looking shot of this. I bought a Fender PA system as a replacement for my guitar amp, and this is the grating over the speakers. Its pretty sweet, and its pretty sturdy metal. But the main thing is it takes a sweet picture! Haha, I used a little 4 diopter macro lens on my kit lens to get this a little closer and shorten the DoF. I had some weird colors originally, but I applied some B&W to take it out. Could have gotten it a bit sharper, but I really need to start homework tonight, enjoy!

High school students at the 2017 APES Youth Seminar prepared various spagetti sauces in the 90 learning kitchen at the University of Kentucky.
Getting a little better at post processing, plus the seeing last weekend was PHENOMENAL!! I believe that small blip next to Jupiter is Europa, but I'd have to go check to be sure.
UPDATE: I checked (Stellarium) and the name of the Jovian satellite located just to the right of Jupiter in the above photo is ....

This is my entry for this week's Thing a Week no. 22 theme: Less Than Perfect.
My thinking for this one, was that the legal system is less then perfect!
Just finished up an identity system for a lawyer, lot of exploration for client - showed a lot of variations but ended up in a conservative place, design-wise that should suit them well. This is a page from the PDF I used to submit the final (and eventually approved) draft.
Busy week - InDesign to Flash piece at the full-time gig and tweaked my logo (customized Fedra) and layout for Tumblr, while continuing to work through freelance projects.

The illegal land grabbing system transforms a very valuable natural area into pastures. It is not even planned development, responding to the needs of a growing economy: it is a totally illegal and unequal redistribution of a common good, based on a very short-term vision. The protection of these areas is not a strategical headache in itself: it depends on political will.
