On Thursday, September 18th, 50+ startups pitched to a group of over 700 investors, corporate executives and fellow entrepreneurs, as the culmination of our startup accelerator programs: Brand & Retail, Startup Camp and International.
In the morning portion of the event, Bitpay's Chief Compliance Officer, Tim Byun, served as Keynote, delving into the issues facing retailers in payment security. The afternoon included a Fireside Chat with Canaan Partners' Deepak Kamra and Columbus Nova Technology Partners' Mohsen Moazami.
The winners of the Retail program were Augmented Pixels, Grabit and Prevedere. The afternoon winners were Statim Health, ABL Solutions and RooT Systems.
John Sloan is a free-lance product developer specializing in embedded and real-time systems. At Wright State University, he led the group that introduced the campus to UNIX and the Internet. At the National Center for Atmospheric Research, he was the head of the section responsible for that national lab’s supercomputers, mass storage system, and server farm. At Bell Laboratories and its spin-offs, John worked as a software engineer on teams to develop and ship several commercial products. John has published an article in the Proceedings of the IEEE, an entry in the Encyclopedia of Computer Science, and many papers and technical reports. John has served on industry and academic advisory panels, has been an invited speaker and panelist, and has served as a visiting scientist and consultant domestically and internationally. He has taught courses in real-time and embedded software development at the undergraduate and graduate level. John has an M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science from Wright State University in Dayton Ohio. He writes under the registered trademark Chip Overclock.
BAE SYSTEMS TYPHOON
The UK Typhoon BT17 will take to the skies above Fairford on all three show days, with BAE Systems Experimental Test Pilot, Nat Makepeace, at the controls. The display will demonstrate the Typhoon carrying four Meteor Beyond Visual Range Air to Air missiles, two Brimstone 2 low collateral precision strike weapons, two ASRAAM missiles and two Paveway IV laser guided precision weapons. This is one of the first times a Typhoon aircraft has flown with weapons fit, this demonstrates the significant milestones which have been achieved towards the integration of these new capabilities, providing the combat pilot with a full range.
A significant contracted programme of work is currently being conducted by the Eurofighter Partner Companies, with the support of MBDA, Eurofighter GmbH and the UK Ministry of Defence, towards the integration Phase 2 and Phase 3 Enhancement packages for Typhoon.
