Most restaurants will have a pair of Shisa at the doors to welcome visitors... this one tells you instantly that they sell noodles :)
The one bad thing about the day is that I stupidly had not had much to eat or drink. And with more than 8 miles to get to the finish of the race, I really should have had gas in the tank from the beginning. Even when i got to the event, me and my buddy staked out a spot to hang out at and just stayed put. I didnt have anything to eat or drink while I was there.
On the way home, we both bonked and had to make a stop at a liquor store to nibble on some chips and sip on Coke. We. Were. Drained.

View of wagon and cannon through doorway to the ordnance store room on the north end of the Post Headquarters at Fort Scott National Historic Site in Fort Scott Kansas.
The original Post Headquarters was built in 1848 and it housed offices for the commanding officer, adjutant, and the ordnance sergeant. It also was where court-martials took place. A man was killed when the building was a general store in 1858. The current building is a reconstruction.
Fort Scott was established in 1842 and it was closed in 1853. It held troops for the Civil War and protection for railroad expansion. The fort and town are named after General Winfield Scott who did not like that a small fort in Kansas bore his name. It became a National Historic Site in 1978.
Fort Scott never did have a wall around it. It was built upon a bluff which had three steep sides and opened up to prairie in a gradual slope on the south. Many forts were not built with walls at the time; the fort with a stockade is more a product of Hollywood mythology than actual fact.
Also Fort Scott is the only Nation Park Service entity that was directly involved in "Bleeding Kansas." Fort Scott was a proslavery town, but many free staters lived in the surrounding area. Located on the grounds was the Western or Proslavery Hotel, directly across from it was the Fort Scott or Free State Hotel.

Shot when I was stucked on the traffic on the way back to my parent's. I like the color and the scratched texture of this building facade. I drove back other time hoping to take some more pictures but now they have put up the new advertisement billboard on them. Not pretty as it was left uncare like this.
Center section built about 1875 by D. W. Proctor & Company; later operated by L. L. Wells.
This structure and earlier one on same site each served as general mercantile store. this building was center for visits and exchange of local news at "Tarkington's Prairie" community. Building has been used as post office, wagon stop, credit house, and voting place. Was located on Old Nacogdoches-Lynchburg Trail, a 19th century thoroughfare. (1968) (Marker No. 9692)
