Former Payless Drug Store located at 2055 Solano Ave. in Vallejo,CA. The building is currently occupied by a Rite Aid which has shown no attempt whatsoever to modernize and update the building both inside and outside. The shape of the exterior signs dates from a logo used by Payless Drug Stores in the mid-1970's. The interior of the store still has numerous Payless Drug Store posters and wall graphics. At least 25,000 square feet of the building is not crudely cordoned off by Payless Drug Store posters. Rite Aid does not know how to attract customers and simply seems like a lost cause! Compare a Rite Aid store like this one with any Walgreens location. I always have supported Walgreens and this Rite Aid store (among countless others) makes my support for Walgreens increase!

Route 66 mural on the side of Zettlers Store on Ash Fork. Homer and Marie Zettler arrived in Ash Fork about 1930 and opened a bakery there. It became Zettler’s Market after World War II. Vernon, the couple’s oldest son, kept the business going until he and his wife retired in 1983.
This general store has been serving customers since 1860. At least that's what they claim. It recently changed owners, but before that there were three old gas pumps outside. It has lots of cool old stuff inside, including an old fashioned pickle barrel, ice chest with glass coke bottles, and cast iron stove.

This general store and gristmill, opened in 1895, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Stone ground corn meal is produced on the premises. For more than 90 years, hoop cheese has been sliced for customers on site. The Gristmill operates for the public only on Saturdays. The store also features a musical museum. I metr the nice lady that is owns and operates the store. The store incurred some damage from the high winds from Katrina.

The lululemon on Walnut Street has a big banner in the store window that reads, "Choose a Positive Thought," and it's filled with hand written quotes.
I thought this was wonderful, and I stood there reading as many as I could as everyone else passed by without noticing.
A great place to get "Brand Names for Less." If you view this at the largest size you can see that the "M" and the "Ls" appear to be newer than the other letters. Chelmsford, Mass.

This store has been abandoned for almost 25 years. It was a Safeway but they pulled out after their buy out in 1987. May have been something after that but it didn't last long.
There used to be a fast food pad but that building was bulldozed a couple of years ago, there is a former bank building now used by a cleaners and some obscure business using some portion of the shopping center to the east of the grocery store.
This is the Purple Fairy 11. When I first purchased her from the thrift store, she was nude and had blonde hair. I dyed her hair purple using Liquidtex Dioxazine Purple acrylic paint mixed with water. I created her dress out of felt and lace using suggestions from Tina Casey's book Fabulous Fashion Doll Clothing You Can Make. I created the accent at her waist and fairy wings out of polymer clay.
they turned the gift shop into a Magritte store, bowler hats and clouded umbrellas included. After all, this is America :-D
