Dahab is a small town situated on the southeast coast of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. Formerly a Bedouin fishing village, located approximately 100 km (62 miles) northeast of Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab is still considered to be one of the Sinai's most treasured diving destinations. The arrival of international hotel chains and the establishment of other ancillary facilities has now made this a popular destination with tourists.
The word Dahab is Arabic for gold and is possibly a reference to the geographic locality; gold washed down from the desert mountains may have accumulated on the alluvial flood plain where the town was built. The name may also be a reference to the colour of the sands to the south of the town itself.

When I was unemployed I worked at this downtown book store a few hours a week. Now I see that they're gone, along with the whole block.

Former SAFEWAY SUPERMARKET on 5601 York in Highland Park (Los Angeles), California. This store operated as a SAFEWAY until 1987. It was part of a group of stores that were closed prior to SAFEWAY leaving the Southern California Market in 1988.
This store became a Pic N Save Store in the fall of 1987. When Big Lots Corporate decided to change the name of its stores to one name, this store became a Big Lots.
This store closed in January 2009. Updated photo after Big Lots Store closed on March 22, 2009.
Of course the new tenants could not leave the building alone, they just had to mess with it,,,,,,causing controversy as they forgot to consult with the surrounding neighborhood.

I had my point & shoot camera with me in a grocery store and I secretly took a few photos with the camera hanging from my neck. I didn't know where I was aiming I just pressed the shutter button inconspicuously with my thumb and hoped for the best.
I added a few notes for more info.

The Indian store was pretty cool even if the lady serving wasn't... well... Indian! But there was some nifty stuff for sale and we got Katie some rather nice Indian slippers! lol
The Alamo Village is located a few miles north of Brackettville, Texas.
It's basically the Alamo movie set where John Wayne's Alamo was filmed (wow!!!!) and there is also a western town too! Literally dozens of tv shows and movies where filmed here.

I saw value finders in a quilt store years ago but didn't really understand how they worked. Nevertheless, I went to an art store and found the red and green acetate and made a crude one of my own...but only out of the red paper - because I didn't know why I needed both.
My Colombian quilt group - wonderful traditional quilters - are always auditioning fabrics when we meet - and getting the opinions of the other ladies. Last week I told them about value finders and then decided to come home to make them one.
I made them each one using the red paper and then googled ' value finder' to make sure I was calling it the right thing.
Well...little did I know that you need both! The red can't see reds and the green can't see greens.
So, I got busy and made the green value finders and attached them with a loop.
This tool helps with ANY art media be it fabric, paint, markers, paper... where-ever you use color.
