Ever since the disastrous escalator incident, they've taped the lids for their customers. At least that's what Peter at the Burlington, MA Lego Store told me as he rung up my items. Last time we went to the Lego Store, they had green PaB tubs... I wonder if I can get a discount for re-using it.. hmm.
Here Bryan--remember Bryan?--autographs a bunch of copies of Scott Pilgrim for us, while chatting with Richard about movies, Nova Scotia, or both. Bryan told me that where he lives in Nova Scotia is 9 hours north of the northernmost tip of Maine, which is crazy, considering that Maine is something like two weeks north of here. Phew!
It's actually called, "Old Country Store," but in my mind it's the Lorman store, as it's the one public building I know of in Lorman, Mississippi. It's a beautiful place, dated 1875 ... now owned by Mr. D, who will serve you a very good (if briny) fried chicken meal and all the southern staples to go with it you can imagine: black-eyed peas, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, fried okra, pickled cucumber, collard greens, really amazing cornbread, and sweet, cool watermelon. All of it, all you can eat. Plus, he will sing to you!
All the old perimeter fixtures are still in place, as are the two original rolling ladders, and there's lots of random merchandise scattered about. No order to it, really, and I wasn't even sure it was for sale. But I was given assurances to the contrary, so for my souvenir I picked an old embossed pop bottle to add to my collection. :-)

V&D (Vroom & Dreesmann) was a Dutch chain of department stores founded in 1887. At it's maximum it counted about seventy stores. This one in the centre of Rotterdam was one of the largest. V&D was declared bankrupt on 31 December 2015, The last shop closed definitive in April 2016. This photo was taken on the last day when the store was open to sell the vary last items. In fifteen of the old stores Hudson's Bay opened in 2017 a new store, included this one. However all Hudson's Bay stores in Holland will be closed again by the end of December 2019.

I recently attended the ZNE Art first-ever convention Aug. 22-24 in Pleasanton, CA and was it ever fantastic! My host for the event, Miss Vicky of Cut-it-Up fame, introduced me to so many wonderful people: Deena, Natalie, Nadine, Gina, Elena, Dori, Jackie, Jan, Danielle. The class I took with Gina Gabriell was almost as wonderful as she is, and I met more wonderful people: Iva, Colleen, Tina, Brigitta, and Deena and Elena were also in that class. I was privileged to meet many published artists and authors, including Sally Jean Alexander, Dawn DeVries Sokol, Pam Garrison, Lisa Kaus and JoAnna Pierotti and to meet in-person many good blog friends and art group friends, like Kris, Constanza and more. And then to see Miss Vicky's amazing home in the Sierra Nevada foothills and darling shop in an old apothecary in the Gold Rush town of Colfax, CA, was just amazing!
