The Wanamaker's flagship store was designed by Daniel Burnham. The stores were acquired by the Broadway in Los Angeles in 1978, bought by Woodward and Lothrop in 1986, and finally May Department Stores in 1997. May rebranded the stores Strawbridge's when they acquired that chain, although this building became a Lord & Taylor. When Federated acquired May (and Lord & Taylor was sold off) this building became Macy's in 2006. On the National Register #78002459, and also a National Historic Landmark.
This will be my new favorite store once I can go shopping. With discounts on MAC, Estee Lauder, Prescriptives and Bobbi Brown, what's not to love?

In 1948 Harry Snyder and his wife Ester opened a small hamburger stand with the idea that instead of sending car hops out to serve customers that wanted to eat in their cars, people could drive up and place their order through a 2-way speaker system and in doing so they created one of the very first drive-thru restaurants.
This neon is from store #8 of the original eighteen locations opened by Harry and Ester prior to his death in 1976

Small sari-sari store, Two children come to the door to see me
take the picture, and are held back by hands of loving elders.
Children are so precious. I can't help but feel compassion for
them.
Shot in late afternoon with beams of sunlight filtering through the trees. A pan of meat has been placed on the table in front, and young man is coming back to take it. The small store is also someone's home, built on posts to support the back side. the land falls away quickly behind the house.

I remember when all the drug stores had a soda fountain. My first job was working at one for one summer and a couple months into my senior school year. The pharmacists there didn't pay much, but helped promising students
with college if they studied to be a pharmacist. Dumb me, I wanted to be a horticulturist.
I found this old rusty ten gallon can the day I stopped at the Unger Farm Store out in the country... I'm really living in the past with this shot.. When we lived on the Dairy my Dad would deliver milk in these cans and would dip out the amounts that the customers wanted... Now this was more than 80 years ago because we lived there before I was in school and I am now 87 years in this old world...
Goulburn has become the home of many EMD built Bulldog locomotives that have become excess to needs.
Most are available for sale as of the time the photos were taken.
This convenience store in Taoyuan is called simply "Convenient".Just realized that it reads: "fang bian bian li shang dian" which contains "fang bian bian" meaning "to do a poop".
Friendly, well-trained counter staff are important in creating a good convenience store experience. Here is a convenience store manager demonstrating these good customer relations.
