While shopping with my wife in a Sydney metro suburb we don't normally frequent, we came across the 'Onesie Land' store. I jokingly said to her that she should pick one out for me. With an evil looking grin she said that each time I misbehaved, she'd make me wear it! I quickly pulled her away from the entrance door:-)
c1910 postcard view of Rashka’s Store in Ainsworth, Indiana. An “Ainsworth, Indiana” blog¹ identifies the location of the store as the southwest corner of State Road 51 (Grand Boulevard) and Ainsworth Road. Although that corner is vacant today, the location seems to be confirmed by the topography (falling to the west) and the house in the background on the right in the postcard image. The footprint and roof of the house west of that intersection today match very closely the house in the photograph. Based on the location of that house to the west, the topography and the angle of the shadows, the photographer must have been standing in the intersection and facing southwest in the late morning. The building was facing Ainsworth Road.
A hitching rail stood between the street and a walkway on the west side of the building. Several milk cans were sitting along that side of the building as well. The signs painted on the display windows advertised the WM. RASCHKA GROCERIES and WM. RASCHKA DRY GOODS store. The sign above the doorway identified this as the POST OFFICE for AINSWORTH INDIANA. On May 4, 1904, the Indianapolis Journal newspaper reported, “William Raschka was to-day appointed postmaster at Ainsworth, Lake county.”
A hand water pump stood outside the Raschka store entrance. Nearby, a young child was playing with a stick. The very early automobile parked near the west end of the building may have belonged to the photographer. Photographers often parked their automobiles or horse-drawn buggies in photographs such as this to add interest.
There were no signs to identify the business, if any, in the west part of the building.

A few closed stores with colourful murals in the storefront. I believe these are being renovated as far of the downtown rejuvenation.
Walk into Threadless Chicago and you'll have 2 choices. Up or down. Downstairs is where the shopping takes place. Upstairs you'll find a mezzanine area overlooking the first floor with all kinds of different things going on. Primarily, it's a gallery. The gallery will showcase all kinds of different artists but will consist mainly of work by winning Threadless designers.
There are 6 portable desks, each with 2 chairs and a computer that can be moved in and out of the space depending on the type of event. In addition to having gallery showings and openings, we'll be hosting various events like group critiques or flying a winning designer in to show how they created their design. Or maybe free milk & cookies on new tee shirt day every week :)
And I saved the best for last! We've teamed up with Digital Bootcamp to provide courses on all sorts of different creative subjects and programs right in the store. Anywhere from courses on ideas like web design or photography to specific programs like Photoshop or Illustrator.
There will be no shortage of things to learn, see and do upstairs in the Threadless store... we'll have a calendar of events put together by the grand opening on September 14th so stay tuned!

ABC stores were all over Waikiki and the rest of Honolulu when we were there. Sometimes two to a block. This one is in Kailua-Kona. It's a kind of convenience/deli/beach store that's packed with everything you want in a hurry (including booze). The thing I bought there most often was bottles of cold water.
There...I have all seven Des Moines area Targets pictured on my Flickr account! What do you say to that huh?
A response to AS 1979's heads up reminder! Elizabeth store, which will be closing in Feb next year. And I suspect it may then soon become David Jones.
I don't know which is the worse name for a clothing brand - Hornia or Hernia? Either way - not an appealing name... especially for what looks to be the Chinese version of Realtor Chic.

Parking Lot sign along Rodeo. Former JJ Newberrys Variety Store which moved to center of this three store shopping center. Original configuration: SAFEWAY Supermarket, Clark Drugs and JJ Newberrys. On Rodeo at La Brea in Los Angeles, California. After JJ Newberrys and Safeway Supermarket left the center, a major remodel took place. Boys Markets took over JJ Newberry Site. When Boys Corporate ower took over Ralphs Company, this store became a Ralphs Grocery Store. One of three photos.

We return to the odd music shop known as Store Front for our sophomore episode, only this time everyone has a name.
It's the night before Halloween and all is more weird then usual at Store Front. The store owner Mr Hondo is obsessed with sending out Halloween holiday emails he thinks would bring in more customers. The computers are attached by a mysterious video spam. The mobile geek network is called for help only the geek drinks the coffee and is changed forever. A scary halloween mannequin arrives and a little after people start disappearing..... oh yeah and someone realy die's.
