Located in Foster, Kentucky a few miles down the Ohio River from Meldahl Dam. Incorporated in 1850 with a 2010 population of 44. The incorporation was dissolved in 1999. The AA highway bypassed Foster in the 1980's..it's hardware and grocery closed. Tough to see the empty buildings dry rotting to nothing.

Union Pacific DD35A units No. 74, 78, 71, 72, 77, 83, 73, and 79 are stored serviceable, awaiting traffic levels to pick up in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 30, 1977. A second set were stored nearby which included DD35A No. UP70 and DD35s No. 93B, 87B, 72B, 82B, 98B, and 80B.
This is one from the archive...from 2013, exactly! I was in a camera store trying out a lens, if I remember correctly, when this photogenic subject appeared!

Piccadilly Arcade runs between Piccadilly and Jermyn Street in the City of Westminster. It was opened in 1909, having been designed by Thrale Jell, and is a Grade II listed building.
The arcade is composed of twenty-eight shops on the ground floor.
A bronze statue of Beau Brummell stands at the Jermyn Street end of the arcade, designed by Irena Sidiecka.

Once upon a time, it was the country store clerk who fulfilled customer orders, e.g., eggs, flour, and soap. The customer would give the store clerk a list of what commodities they wanted. Those were the days before the retailing and branding revolution that was brought on by Piggly Wiggly franchised supermarkets and the new-fangled ilk that followed. In these new 20th-century stores, retailers had to bedazzle shoppers with eye-catching packaging since consumers began to do the shopping work for themselves by walking through big stores designed with shopping aisles filled with shelves and shelves of competing products. That branding and shopping revolution eventually came back to country stores.
Nowadays, we have online virtual aisles and artificial intelligence to assist.
We came across this awesome store from the 1800's... it had a mannequin window and everything. It has been turned into a house since, but it was still quite interesting to look at....

The last of them, finally!!
I had a very enjoyable visit with my grandson to this amazing place, The Barker Comic and Cartoon Museum! From Vintage 1930s Mickey Mouse Toothpaste to a 1:1 Scale Replica of the Hulk, every toy you’ve ever played with (or dreamed of) is displayed amongst the 88,000+ antique toys and collectibles within the Barker Character, Comic, and Cartoon Museum. Official Museum for Celebriducks, California Raisins, and Gumby! I shot a bunch of shots, all with a cell phone (not like me, I know) and most were behind glass cabinets. What a trip with so many memories to enjoy! I hope you'll also enjoy seeing some of the shots I walked away with, and more will follow...no car shots today :))
