A few weeks ago, my nephews had a sleepover at our home. The next morning I took our two boys and my two cute little nephews (a.k.a. jelly beans) to our local park in our residential community. We weren't prepared to get wet, but the boys insisted on running through the park's water fountains/splash zone. I figured it was a sunny and hot day in Florida, why not.
Here's Nolen 3yo, running through holding his nose shut. My two boys to his right Bailey and Jordan. And at the far end in the red shirt stands still, Noah under 2yo. The boys had a blast that's for sure.
I have several more of these images, but currently my external
hard drive crashed on me. I'm taking it somewhere this pm to extract my images and upload to a new device. In the mean time, I was able to edit one out of the series before the crash.

This splash of paint was actually photographed using milk. Repeatedly dropping a small bottle into a can of milk to get the splashes and then digitally converting them into paint! Took quite some time, and although its not that natural, I still think its not too bad.
I'm working on my photoshop technique today.... if you don't use it, you lose it right?
I saw a tutorial on creating splash..... it was super easy!

This was the scene along the esplanade yesterday! I had to stand well back to catch this splashing, crashing shot or I would have been soaked to the skin!!

Zach has not quite figured out splash pads yet. He was happily playing in the trickle of water that runs when the fountain is off.... and another kid hit the water button. Was pretty priceless. :)

Spectacular bougainvillea growing wild behind my house. We do nothing, they thrive up and down our hundred mile chain of islands in the Keys, especially the shorelines.
Amelia's Thursday included a trip to the farmer's market, the playground, the Island Park splash pad, and finally the Max & Emily's Summer Concert Series.
The image above is in readiness for some new 'gear' I have coming to enable me to carry out some 'tabletop' techniques and ideas I have. I was prompted by the book I recently purchased on Amazon - ('Tabletop Photography' by Cyrill Harnischmacker - Approx. £8.50p + postage).
I also found a Gavin Hoey instructional video on YouTube so as it was a simple set-up - [it had to be simple - otherwise I wouldn't have tried it ! ;^) ] - I thought let's go for it.
The splashes are none too 'exciting' but as I mentioned, it's just a test-run for the 'real thing'. ;^)

Bird's Nest Fungi / crucibulum laeve. Minsmere, Suffolk. 13/10/15.
I was delighted to find these minute fungi for the first time back in October. Each fresh fruiting body is covered with a golden membrane. This degrades to reveal the 'nest' which is less than 1cm in diameter. Inside the nest are minuscule 'eggs' (peridioles) which in turn contain spores.
The individual 'nests' act as splash cups and whenever a raindrop strikes them, the eggs get splashed away. In this process, the spores are dispersed. Isn't the natural world fantastic!

Info:
Set a piece of glass up under the tap outside with a bucket to bring it off the ground. Had a white piece of card behind for some diffused light.
Flash camera left with home made "macro" diffuser which I should upload a pic of soon.
