Lemon Splash
A slice of Lemon dropped into a glass of water.
Thanks for viewing my images, comments and feedback welcome.
American White Pelicans look elegant in flight, but take-offs and landings can be a messy sight. They are heavy-bodied and require a running start, and landings often involve a big splash.
They are a reliable constant at J.N."Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, so that's usually our first stop when visiting Florida.
Fontana dell'Amerano in Piazza Duomo a Catania
In front of the Palazzo degli Elefanti, seat of the Town Hall, on the southern side of Piazza Duomo, it is possible to see the Amenano Fountain, which takes its name from the Amenano river which flows underground.
Built in 1837 in Carrara marble by Tito Angelini, the fountain figuratively represents the river as a young man who, from a cornucopia, pours water into a pod-shaped chalice basin, at the base of which two tritons in turn pour the water in the channel crossed by the Amenano river in this visible stretch.
The people of Catania call this fountain "acqua a linzolu" because the water from the fountain pours like a small waterfall into the river and produces an evocative and characteristic "sheet" effect and also because in the past the commoners washed their linen in the river from this canal.

I know a silly old fool who fell/rolled straight in this stream flat on his back full body length, today. I've promised to keep his identity secret.
He was taking a photograph,, lost his balance, toppled over, rolled down the steep little bank and straight in on his back and side. Like a seal in a rockpool with a camera. Apparently, there was nothing this chap could do to save himself as he was too busy saving the camera. This chap's wife who witnessed the sad event is still laughing. Still. There is no photographic record of the event because the half-wit fish didn't take a selfy.
The stream is at the bottom of our garden and the above plants are Teasel bowed down with the weight of rain they took in March, pointing at the stream like some bizarre - and if you don't mind me saying, rather sick, premonition......
I took this one last month at Ambleside Beach in a big windstorm. Lions Gate Bridge is in the background, which joins Vancouver to North and West Vancouver. And yes, I did get sprayed :)
As the sun sets, it is finding an opening through the clouds, the wind is increasing and the water splashes up.
