Just discovered a whole new world of photography...well, actually, rediscovered it.Years ago, when I first started photography and was developing both film and prints in my own darkroom, I was always fascinated with milk/water drop splash photography. At the time though, it was beyond my limited means and available technology. Today it's a snap and I find it just as fascinating and completely absorbing. Feel like a kid with a new toy again and some of the joy and wonder of photography just came back! Plus, I'm back in the darkroom again...in a way ...and using another piece of equipment that was state of the art at the time...and still works beautifully after all those years...the Vivitar 283 flash. :-)
This is just a first attempt...I'm sure I'll upload others in the weeks to come.
On another note...if you are in the habit of reading EXIF data....this will show you that you really can't always trust it. :-) For this image, it says the flash didn't fire. Don't believe it! It really did...just not where you'd expect it to be. :-)
Been working on some new decoration for my living room wall. Played around with different liquids and splashing around i the kitchen. Ended up with using chocolate milk and then color toning it in photoshop later.
I used my camera as commander and my Nikon SB700 as an off camera flash with a printed reflection
screen.

High surf and tide made for explosive splashes on the rocks off shore of the elephant seal rookery. This image is taken farther south, at the cypress tree pullout.
Every town has a diner
Where I'll meet you
And your friends, too
Things are just a bit nicer over some coffee
You can tell me all about your day...
Inspired by Siebe's 'Cookie Splash' image, I thought I'd have a try at some fast shutter speed photography. It was good fun, but a quite long winded and messy experience. I had about five or six attempts at getting it right; this being my favourite sequence...
'Making A Splash': A blog post about how I went about creating this shot.
An action shot of our American Staffordshire fetching in the river. She acts more like a lab than a pitbull in her love for this game, but her body is not designed as well. We've now learned to put her in a life jacket when the water is deep, as she will keep going long past the point of exhaustion!
